Re: [Internet] Bell is now calling to mock me.

Fibe 175 is only available in areas that have FTTH, since you only qualified for up to 50/10 you're in an FTTN area so the rep that offered you Fibe 175 did not know what they were talking about.

If you were on a Stinger previously all the ports may be in use which is why you can no longer get anything faster than 5/1.

I'm not entirely sure on that one. I stopped to talk to a Bell tech working at my oslam about a month ago and asked him if there was any FTTH in the area and shockingly he said, yes, there were some small pockets of it. Perhaps when the guy came around to the house to offer FTTH, they couldn't get enough customers signed up to make it worthwhile for Bell to fibre up the homes?

Interesting theory but does not stand up to any analysis. If the ports are presently full then why would many potential customers, who are on the same F2 and are not on the service at present, still be eligible for the FibeTV/Fibe 50/10 service? (They are not FibeTV customers at present either)

rep wouldn't know if all the ports were used or any of that, they qualify customers by address or phone number, you're either in the FTTH footprint or you're not, if you go on bell.ca and put your address in it'll give you all the available plans

As for what the Bell reps know or not know, the ones who visited me were surprisingly very well-informed and appeared to be working in conjunction with the call centre in that preceding their visits in both cases I had first received a marketing telephone call from Bell Canada a couple hours earlier.

As for visiting the Bell website to determine what service I qualify for, how do you think I was able to determine what services were available to myself and my neighbours? By divining rod perhaps?

Update on my Bell eligibility status. Well it looks like the clogged ports on the stinger have been cleared and I am once again eligible for the Fibe 50/10 service. That was pretty fast. Perhaps now the next time the Bell rep calls he won't hang up on me so quick.
