[HD] Monthly Post - Still no New HD for Philly Region

It's that time again - new bill online as of this morning - and still no new HD channels for the Philly region. Here's the only notice:

So, in the past year they removed Gol TV HD, Plum HD, ESPN3D (as of 9/30) - and this is in addition to the numerous QAM's that have remained open in our region. The last HD add in this area was the big 16 channel addition that happened in June 2012.

My hunch is that Comcast, with the X1 boxes, is now prepping for IP delivery of new channels. I could be totally full of crap - but I have the feeling this is what's next. After seeing how stellar HD picture quality can be via Netflix, etc - I don't see any reason why MSO's (other than U-Verse) can't start this immediately. We're literally 60-70 channels behind in HD offerings compared to the best ones out there. I only wish they'd give their customers a bone and let us know what's in the works.

They're the biggest provider in the country - I can't see them sitting back and not being an industry leader - even if it has taken awhile.

Sorry rody_44 I have to agree with Jeep. We are in 2013 and we don't receive as many channels as FIOS or Directv. I'm on comcast of Garden State, NJ system and we haven't received any New SD or HD channels in a long time. One SD channel here or there (Local Sub Channels). I want Boomerang, Fox Movie Channels, Chiller, Fox Sports 2 just to name a few.

Also, don't forget all the removal of HD premiums within the city.

Isn't the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania market the most updated one for Comcast? It is headquarters for Comcast.

I'm in Northern VA...moved here from NY where I had Fios...Fios had all the Premium channels in HD and Comcast doesn't have any except the main ones...For example Fios had HBO comedy in HD, HBO signature in HD, extc...Any reason Comcast can't add all the premium HD channels?

did you look at how many channels Comcast has that directv doesn't. Also look at all of the infomercial channels on directv. My friend has it and there has to be 20 or 30 shopping channels. Like the adam Levine channel (I swear all I saw in the guide was adam Levine....)
Also there are hd channels that comcast has that directv doesn't.

I haven't directly compared the two but just coming from Fios and Cablevision back on Long Island to Comcast it's seems pretty weak with at least the HD channels I would like.

Comcast has some HD premiums in other markets, but has dropped a lot of them, claiming that On Demand satisfies the need. I think that's a load of crap.

DirecTV has a more compelling HD lineup overall as they have all those premiums, and some things Comcast doesn't have.

Of course, Comcast has Fuse HD, Oxygen HD, PBS Kids Sprout HD, TV One HD, GSN HD, Esquire HD and UP HD that DirecTV doesn't have. I think whenever D14 launches, they'll have all of those.

Looks like after the rebranding debacle, G4 is now shutting down on 10/10 - that will be yet another HD channel gone, not added.

Comcast also does have the BIG ten ALT's in HD, EPL games as real channels, More then 1 HD feed (limited areas) for NBA LP / MLS DK and more then 2 HD feeds (limited areas) for NHL CI / MLB EI.

I wish they would offer all the sports packages in HD.

So the fad that was 3DTV is over.
