nicotine join:2013-07-20 Niagara Falls, ON | Unlimited in the Niagara Region yet? Have been a start customer for a while - have had fantastic service (and great customer service too, every time I call they have been spot on).
I know some areas have unlimited, the cogeco areas were going to eventually/hopefully offer unlimited.
Any status updates on it?
Thanks! |

Our options here in Niagara are pretty sad, unfortunately. |

It's going to be really hard to be honest. We're still watching the trending with what we've done in the red areas to see what it levels off at, but we're finding that with the capacity costs almost half on that network and it's still costing us more than the $10/mo we're offering the package for.
If we just took the same data then unlimited would be around $40/mo with Cogeco, however that's not a true reflection because many of the users that would buy it at $10 won't at $40, which means only the real heavy users would pay the extra premium, which then means the average cost would go up since the lighter unlimited users wouldn't be helping to lower that average, repeat, repeat, repeat as that price goes up and you're at $1000/mo for the unlimited.
The capacity rate on the Cogeco side is just out of this world and really causes an issue when it comes to being able to offer a practical unlimited package. |

I'd be willing to pay $40 more for unlimited on cogeco, it would still be cheaper than what I am currently paying them (use around 350-400GB/month). If unlimited on cogeco isn't really looking to good I hope to hear some news about unlimited on the DSL front soon, really looking to get away from Cogeco. |

|
 | What are you thinking for price? Nothing I would hold you to (a firm price), but even a ballpark would be nice. |

rocca,
If costing is that way out of whack on the Cogeco side then a complaint should be filed with the CRTC.
I am using my grandfathered 300 GB Cap and I know that that sucks for you because as a business you aren't making alot of money off of me.
DSL isn't available where I live so my options are cable only.

Where in Niagara are you? St. Cats is blanketed by FTTN DSL and there's a lot of it in Niagara Falls, too. The rest of Niagara Falls along with Welland and Fort Erie should have it by next year.
I plan on switching to DSL the moment it goes live down this way.
Edit - on my phone, didn't see you were in the Falls. You'll have faster DSL soon enough. If you're really antsy go move down near McLeod and Kalar and get some fibre to the home instead |

We've had that battle already and lost it unfortunately for the time being, however this Fall/Winter is the new wholesale services policy review so we'll have another opportunity at that time. |

thanks for the heads up.
i'm still a happy customer all day long. I'll be with start forever.
just not having to worry about a cap all the time would be nice. i'm not a super heavy user like i used to be.
as for DSL, I think in my area there is only 6mbit offered by bell currently... |
