[INTERNET] Streaming crashes my internet.

Hello,

While I'm livestreaming, my internet will crash/disconnect after approximately 5-10 minutes. My modem lights stay on and it still says I'm connected to the internet, but I can't load a webpage etc. The only way to reestablish a connection is by resetting the modem and restarting my computer.

I've had numerous technicians out (checked the line signal and swapped out modems) to diagnose the problem but the issue still persists.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Thank you very much.

Not sure. If you want, you can PM me your modem MAC or account info and I can take a look. Have you tried on another computer?

Are you using a Wireless or any Router? If so this may be the problem that your having.

If you have a laptop or access to another computer i would suggest hooking it up directly to the Cogeco modem and see if the same thing happens. If it does then your first step would be to replace the Modem and have a techie check your line.

Sorry should've read more closely as I see you had techs out. When You say Livestreaming what does that mean?

If it's from a using a torrent client then that's your problem right there. You need to uninstall whatever client you are using and reinstall it or even better yet switch to another client like Tixati.

If you google utorrent crashes my internet connection you will see many examples of this problem. Oh I would tend to bet that your running Windows 7 64bit aren't you?

I've had the regional manager contact me and he said everything looked fine on his end. Also the last tech said he was going suggest smoke pinging my line. Is there more you can do?

Thanks

If someone has checked on their end and everything looks fine, the only thing I can suggest is trying a different PC.

When everything crashes, do the lights on the modem change?

If you just do regular web browsing or email does you connection become Corrupt and unusable... or does the problem happen when you start gaming?

No. It crashed when your tech was here the other day and he said all the lights were on.

My internet was crashing frequently when I was web browsing, but they replaced the modem (coincidentally I started having upload issues after this) and it's only crashed a couple times since. It only crashes regularly when I'm streaming or testing my upload speed to Twitch servers via Xsplit. It's a consistent upload demand that crashes my internet.

Are you using a router and experiencing this? Have you tested for a few days with a direct connection to the modem. You need to remember that any consumer router out there will be havoc with a connection since it uses anywhere from 100 to 300 Kbps speeds to stay active with any devices to avoid network lag, but when you start major uploads, the routers will start throttling the connection. I have seen this on Linksys/Cisco, Dlink, and Asus routers. The only way around that is to have a upload of 10Mbps or higher.

This was the first question that popped into my head from reading the first post. I've seen routers crash modems before. I used to have a Linksys that would do it if I met the right variables and I've seen certain D-Link models that will easily do it too...
