[CA] Suddenly slow in the evenings only - help?

During the day, my premier connection flies (29.5mbps/3.5mbps) -- but a few weeks ago, evenings have been (relatively) abysmal, with downstream speeds topping out around 5mbps. Nothing has changed on my end, using a Docsis 3.0 Motorola SBG6580 in bridge mode with a D-link DIR-865L. Bonding at 8x2. I've tried on multiple devices, rebooting router and modem, bypassing router, etc.

I do live near a university (I'm in Irvine, 92612), so I wonder if students returning has had any effect (though this wasn't a problem all through last year).

I was told by the installing tech that my ancient house's internal wiring is not quite up to snuff (not sure what I can do about that), and that's led to some intermittent cable-TV issues (blocking, no signal for some channels), but it's largely been okay.

Not sure where to turn to for help, as I don't want to go through the phone-support run-around (might have to though).

Any ideas would be appreciated...

your levels look bad, if there are any additional splitters between the wall jack and the modem try bypassing it, if its a direct connection then you need a tech out

I'll test with and without the splitter as soon as I get home - I don't have much of a choice though, as this is the only location I can have both my cable modem and DVR box. I wonder why this only started happening recently though, and only in the evenings?

Looks like something might be causing a problem in the 867000000Hz range? What kind of wiring is it? Usually if you look at the cable it will say, like RGxx. Im guessing its older wiring with less shielding in the walls and it's picking up ingress in that range, but thats a bit of a stretch with the data at hand.

So there appears to be a pattern - slow weekday evenings, and now slow weekends all day. The only time it's at advertised speeds is weekdays during the day. While I recognize that my internal wiring is not great, and might be a contributing factor, the pattern seems to indicate that it's some sort of congestion/capacity issue. What is the best way to get Cox to look at this without the rigamarole of "power cycle your modem" "it's your router" "it's your wiring" etc... (sorry, I've had some awful experiences with broadband providers)

Just because it's time related doesn't mean its not signal related. I mean I see your point, but if your having performance related problems, there isn't really a way for Cox to "look at this" other then looking at wiring and signal problems. Especially if the installing technician made a point of bringing it up during the install. Probably what ever wiring problem causes the intermittent cable issue is probably causing a intermittent internet issue. Thats my best guess.
