[TV] Same old BS with the super sports pack

I pay $30+ extra for the Super Sports Pack from Cogeco but with different companies buying up different things tonight I can't see Thursday night NFL cuz it is on Sportsnet which is no longer part of basic digital at all on Cogeco and to top it off I haven't seen a Blue Jays game this year even though I am paying for Major League Baseball too.

Explain to me how when I pay a premium for sports that I can't see what I am paying for.

SF vs St. Louis is a regular season game so why am I not getting it ? There is no local blackout as I am in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada for crying out loud. Oh wait Sportsnet ........... yeah got to set up the packages in a way to make sure you get all the money you can from sports fans but really if I pay for NFL I should be getting NFL games all the time unless there is local blackout.

In regards to the Blue Jays how do I get ZERO of their games during the regular season ? Oh wait Rogers and the other cable companies need to collude to make sure they can rip off their customers and make more and more money. How is it that I shuld have to pay for another full channel pack upgrade when I pay a PREMIUM to see MLB !?!??!?! I am 6 hours away from Toronto ! I don't think I am going to the game so don't give me the argument of local blackout.

I am getting ripped off and I am tired of it.

With regards to the broadcasting rights, you have a little point, but not a big one. With the Blue Jays, since Rogers Communications Inc is the owner of the team, they will always broadcast all 162 games on their Sportsnet feeds. Since the Blue Jays are the only Canadian Team, it will never show games on MLB Extra Innings if you subscribe to it in Canada.

As for the NFL games, I don't blame you for being upset about that. Since Rogers pays exclusive rights to re-broadcast the American Feed, The NFL, in the agreements with Telco/Cable/Satellite Carriers in Canada, it has to be blacked out on NFL Sunday Ticket in Canada. I get what you are talking about, but you really need to be more upset with Rogers.

Now as for Cogeco moving the Sportsnet feeds out of the basic package, what do you classify as basic package? Basic has not had any Sportsnet feeds in a few years, but they have been part of the Value Package for a few years. The only sports channel that has been part of the Basic Package has been TSN. Maybe, you need to re-think the programming setup you have so you get the best bang for your buck. Right now, I would get the sports themes and drop The Super Sports Pack since it is a resell of a Rogers rip-off, and it seems the games you want to watch are on Sportsnet anyways.

You might not agree, but I am telling the truth. Worked in the industry, so I know the rules inside and out.

I am a Colts (NFL), Timberwolves (NBA), OHL, and Devils (NHL) fan so really I get quite a bit of value from the sports pack but it just irks me that I get NO Blue Jays whatsoever. It is one thing for Rogers to say hey we carry all 162 games on Sportsnet but really a person who has a super sports pack should get some of the Blue Jays game over a course of a season. As for the Thursday game I guess I can't complain as it does say NFL Sunday Ticket and I do get all the Sunday games so.

It's a classic example of what the CRTC and the Ministry of Industry are supposed to protect us from.

IMHO, it's prima facie proof that both of those organizations are corrupt. A bona fide regulator with taxpayers' best interests at heart would NEVER have allowed that to happen. Instead, our glorious regulators allow further concentration by letting Bell & Rogers form a partnership to control MLSE.

At the same time, I don't know why anyone would want to watch a Blue Jays game anyways. Like Rogers' other products, the Blue Jays are crap and have been for ages.

It was going to be an interesting year and I wanted to see it unfold. As for the Jays thinking that a knuckle ball pitcher could be an ace that is just LOL.

Yeah, all that preseason hype had a lot of people believing. I guess people started floating back to the ground around game #6.

Sad, but par for the course. It's Rogers.

The Basic Package that is being referred to here is the cheapest package that Cogeco offers. The Sportsnet channels actually were on that package until June of 2013. We subscribe to this package and lost the three Sportsnet channels (Sportsnet East, West, and Pacific).

Interesting that you say that the Sportsnet Channels were in the Basic Package as of June 2013, but I had TV then and they were part of the Digital Select Packages for the East, West and Pacific. It was only until last month that they changed the packages and moved the Sportsnet feeds into the Digital Value Package. So you are telling me you must have a grandfather package?

It might be a difference in how the channels are distributed in different systems. We are in the Burloak system. We got an e-mail saying they were moving the channels to the Digital Value Pack.
