Re: [Outages] Outage Report Cable/DSL 09/27 **updated** 6:07pm

From the DCM modem firmware bs I got from the TekSavvy tech support guy to the 1.5 days down and counting situation. And me needing the connection for work. It will not be long before I have to cancel TekSavvy and pay one of the robber barons again.

Just so TSI understands, this outage being more then a day is no small potato.

I'll do what I can to make sure you situation is looked into. Obviously, there are a ton of outages right now. We're doing what we can but they are causing problems faster than they are fixing them. They are now responding to us more quickly but they are not making sure that we don't go down in the first place.

I don't know if related, but Facebook isn't working for me in York Region, ON.
Can ping it but no http response, using Google DNS and DSL.

Not working for anyone else?
All my other regular websites seem to be fine..

Marc I know you are doing What you can for the situation but for people like us who depend on internet to work this is literally costing me hundreds after 4 days of outage. I hope the situation with CRTC works out and the system is restructured but if my connection is not back tonight I really have no other choice than to switch providers.

Re: [Outages] Outage Report Cable/DSL 09/27 **updated** 6:07pm

Hi Marc,

Another Greely/Manotick customer here. I hate to have to do it, but I've scheduled Rogers to come switch me back tomorrow. I wish we could wait longer, but we depend on internet access for work and most of our entertainment and we're at 3 days and counting of being offline. Best of luck to your company.

Sorry dude. We're doing everything we can. We're told that things should be back to normal by mid next week. Seems like a mad dash to the finish line. I've never seen this many outages before. Something big must be in the works.

L6B still down. Another 4 days until a fix? I don't think it's possible for many people to wait that long. It's unfortunate but I'm also changing back to Rogers. I don't know any internet company that has downtime for more than a day, especially since they are rented lines.

Doesnt make sense that my neighbor using Rogers is fine when I'm down using a rented line from Rogers by TSI.

The lower price and higher bandwidth is nice but the lack of service and 7 day downtime makes it not worth it.

Not necessarily 4 more days. What I was saying is that I believe they will be done making changes soon. I don't know for sure but that's best guess. Not many have been offline more than 4 days so I'd imagine you'd be back online soon but I don't know one way or another. Each affected area seems to take varying amounts of time to come back up.

Still down in M4B too and it seems Comstock has become part of this post: »Outage Report Cable/DSL 09/28 5:31 pm *Updated

Fairly confident its a DHCP issue, as I briefly had a connection this morning around 9:45AM, though silly me rebooted my modem as my US light was still flashing, and lost my IP. Now I've been offline ever since.

I decided to go out and pick up a WINDspeed Huawei E366 at $5/day for unlimited usage. Seem like it'll be worth it if Rogers isn't expecting to have this fixed until mid-next week. Thankfully it works in my RT-N66u with Shibby's Tomato build, so my whole house is back online at least.

That $5/day thing is very nice, as long as you remember to top the damn thing up. I lost $50 of time on my daily one in the spring..

I do still have one on the monthly plan too though.

Just wanted to point out 5 bucks a day can buy you a really fast rogers cable plan with decent bandwidth...

Confirming K1T being up. New IP in the 135.x.x.x range, not the old 99.x.x.x

Bell was arguing with the developer over costs, since rogers was running cable, they weren't mandated to do it.

Silly

It is $5/day when you actually use it. When you deconstruct the pay as you go system, the real cost breaks down at about $82/year--assuming you only use it 40 days in a year. 40 days is a hell of a lot of outages, even considering the garbage that is going on right now.

Of course you have to buy the data stick too, not sure what the real cost there is.

Maybe either egg Rogers stores (kidding) or go in and get a Rogers account and modem (sadly not kidding)

Up now in K4A Orleans. New IP address.

@teksavvy.com

Up now in L1v Pickering and fingers crossed. Teksavvy team was good and did their best, appreciate it ! I was close to switching to Rogers as life comes to a standstill without net.
Marc, I hope crtc backs you up. Rogers was gloating today when I called them that tek has support issues and how good their support is !! and i did not even tell them that I have an outage. Thank goodness I did not have to switch over !
