 | [X1] Audio Problem Help I've stated this issue before and believe I'm close to solving it but need a little assistance from the people here. Here is my setup
Upstairs - Main DVR Downstairs - 2nd DVR (the issue is here) Bedroom - Companion.
So "Downstairs" I have a Yamaha stereo reciever which the cable box and my xbox plug into via HDMI, then 1 hdmi cable goes from the stereo to the TV. I have had a problem ever since getting X1 with my audio settings during a DVR recording downstairs. Usually I have it set to "straight" and usually the decoder used is Dolby Digital. When opening a DVR recording, the stereo only uses PCM mode and only utilizes the front speakers, regardless of the program I watch. After tinkering I noticed that if I go into the audio preferences in the X1 box and set it to stereo then back to surround, the Yamaha reciever then goes to the correct Dolby Digital. Also, if i'm watching the Recording and shut the Yamaha off, then turn it back on, it goes to the correct Dolby Digital setting. However, fast forwarding or swapping to another recording requires me to do the whole process again. I'm certain it's a communication issue with my stereo. There seems to be some interruption with that communication. My question is, and i'll try this later, do you think making the effected "Downstairs" DVR my "main DVR" will solve the issue? I'm not really sure how it connects to the main dvr now but I was thinking that because that connection is "interrupted" maybe having the recordings actually stored on this box will help. ANy help will be greatly appreciated.
Also, all other sound is fine including On Demand. Tried X2 and experienced the same issue. I have a similiar issue with the box, nearly every day, reverting from 1080/60 to 720. I think since the video goes through the stereo it may be the same issue |

 | I & many others others have the same issue of the video setting reverting back to 720p instead of staying on 1080p, even with X2. I would be surprised if that wasn't happening on all of your boxes. Hoping that this will be fixed at some point by CC...
As to the surround issue on your secondary DVR box I don't know the answer, but one thing to try might be to use Component connects instead of HDMI & see if that has any impact. If so then to me that would point to some type of HDMI connectivity (handshake/sync) issue between that box & your Yamaha. BTW I use a Yamaha receiver as well on my single X1 (now running X2) DVR & haven't had any HDMI handshake issues with video or audio (unless that 720p reset is one of those but I don't think so). |

Have you tried using an optical or digital coax connection for audio? You will have to look in the Yamaha receiver manual on how to tell the receiver to use this alternate digital audio connection as it will default to use the HDMI audio. |

 | I'm going to try making the Downstairs DVR the main one and see if any of the new recordings work out for me. If they don't, I'll try a digital coax connection to see if that fixes it.
As far as the box reverting to 720 every day...the upstairs dvr and the companion do not do that. Upstairs is set to and stays on 1080 and the Bedroom companion box is set to 1080/60 and stays on it. |

Ok, so I believe it's fixed. I changed the default DVR to downstairs (where I had the problem). Any new recording that has been recorded on that box now works perfectly with the stereo. I'm guessing the stereo lost communication with the STB when the STB connected to the MAIN DVR for recordings. |
