cut cable from neighbor

I live in a 2 story apratment building. The cable comes down from the attic through the unit above me and into my unit. Monday at 5, my cable went out, called Comcast at 7. They sent someone out on Wed and said that the cable was cut in the unit above me. There is a realtor lock box on the door. My association doesn't have the correct key to get in and the realtor won't even call the owner. The association has tried several times to reach the owner with no luck. Comcast says there is no other way to run the cable. No dishes are allowed.
Do I have any rights at all here or do I just have to wait until someone gets in touch with the owner?

the property manager has rights to get into the other apartment (unit). You can go to the local government agency that deals with apaprtments and such and see what they can do. And if that does not work you can threaten legal action on appartment complex.

Call the realtor and make a appointment to view the inside telling them you want to rent or buy. Make the appointment when your maintenance man is on hand. Have him fix it. The realtor can get in. They just dont want to. Ide place all my energy on them if they wont let anyone in from comcast. If they wont cooperate tell them your prepared to picket there place of business. Light a fire under there ass and just keep calling and demanding they do something to rectify the situation. Keep using your imagination. They can get in whenever they want.

Most likely they had it painted and the painter cut the line coming down thru the closet.

I know in Massachusetts the law says the landlord must allow the cableco access to the building if one or more tenants requests cable. Your state may have similar rules.

You might want to look into the FCC's OTARD rules to see if you might have a right to install a dish in your particular situation.

I am not an attorney but as a renter I am well aware of my rights and responsibilities as a tenant.

Is that apartment occupied, the only reason I could think of someone cutting a cable TV cable is to steal cable by splicing in and putting in a splitter. And they do such a poor job that they're usually caught when the legitimate subscriber calls in with a snowy picture and it generates a truck roll. I had a former neighbor (who was an ex cable contractor) and he was stealing cable. The only reason I didn't report it is guaranteed retaliation.

I've experienced ImOn (when they were McLeod USA), Mediacom, Comcast, and Time Warner and I currently have DirecTV. They are much better than broadcast TV.

I have not and will not cut the cord.
