New Speeds

Moments ago I was downloading content, and app reported a speed 161Mbits, I figured that it was burst speed, but it sustained it. I check the task manager and it stated a similar speed. I then check the speed my router was reporting and it was the same sometimes higher. I went to Speedtest.net which isn't always accurate due to amount of people using it, and it reports half the speed. I then tried a speed test I really trust, speedtest.verizon.net, and it reported the same speed I was seeing.

Anyone else seeing these speeds?

I noticed the receive power doubled, and all the DCIDs changed in my router's web interface.

Hmm...nothing yet. Prolly need to reboot my modem but not gonna do that yet.

Thinking maybe they are pushing up to match Cox which is in the 150Mbps range (well I can hope! )

Are the Cox 150Mbps speed price at a similar price, and are they new?

Getting 115/30 here (I think Ultra 101 is actually capped around 118 or 120Mbps), which is about as fast as I've seen in the past month or so, but not faster.

Are you on the "promo" Ultra101 (at the old Boost/Boost+ rate) or on the official, full price Ultra101 plan?

Just getting the usual Ultra 101 in the Bronx, whether Speedtest Ookla or Verizon.

@Thinkdiff I signed up for Boost+ right before they started the upgrades.

@Rojo I'am in The Bronx too.

I going to go take the FCC Broadband survey/test.

Again OOL doing speed upgade yet TWC NY still stuck at 50mbps. Us TWC costumer will see speed that matches other Cable provide 5-7 year later. I'm in NYC a bronx section that is provide by TWC and i hate it that it's not OOL territory. sigh :/

I been trying to find that area of the Bronx, what is your zip code if you don't mind me asking.

The area you are in if I am not mistaken is on Bronx land but is part of Manhattan, and there is a section on Manhattan land that is part of the Bronx.

Manhattan is Manhattan and The Bronx (capital "T") is The Bronx. What you're thinking of is that part of Manhattan lies to the north of the Harlem River and is contiguous to The Bronx. But it's still Manhattan.

I'm guessing by the lack of other posts, nobody else has seen this increase? I sure haven't. Maybe dudeman456 See Profile just got lucky?

Or just a glitch in the test (which happens relatively often).

The fact that you are sometimes getting 0 ms ping time should be a hint that something is wrong with the results.

Before the speed bump, speedtest also reported zero ping for some tests. Now it's never lower than 12ms.

Do you do Usenet with an unlimited provider?
Download a big file and note the speed.
That will be your true speedtest.

Rojo as requested, here I am downloading a new Linux Distro.

I figure at this time I am not going to get the best speeds, but I check it out, and update as needed. This is where I first noticed it, when it stayed at 181 then went to 202, but that was at 2AM
