| [Game] Borderlands 2 and DLC I had just bought Borderlands 2 for $12 a few weeks ago.I just couldn't pass that up as I don't really have much money to spend on games. As far as DLC for this game.Whats available and whats worth getting?I don't play multi-player as I just don't have the time to spend playing for hours and I hate to jump in and out of games. Any deals on DLC? |

| [Game] Re: Borderlands 2 and DLC Here is what happened to me.
I bought the game for $10. Then immediately bought the expansion season pass for $20. Got bored by the time I got to using season pass stuff.
I have a 60 sniper, 50 something siren, level 5 commando, 35 Psycho (which is fun but only one talent tree is useful and it has a way hella annoying "must have" talent... it's like +3094829034829083403049 infinity damage but a 30% chance to hit yourself, and a 35 gunzerker. I like the GZ the best for action and the healing siren is good for control.

DLC wise Gearbox/2K Games are getting a little greedy in my opinion.
At launch I was torn between BL2 and the WoW expansion, Mists of Pandaria. As WoW content only stays current for a short while, and expansions usually last me a year before I'm bored with them I went with WoW, theorising that the BL would habe a GOTY edition out, or due out, by then. I thought this as they said there would be 4 DLC packs, all out by June 13 and this followed the original games pattern of DLC and tied in with the season pass. So original plan, game and 4x DLC.
The 1st DLC was actually the pre-order bonus, the mechromancer pack, but most people don't class it as DLC as such although you'll have to buy it as you didn't pre-order. Following that were 3 scheulded DLC packs Captain Scarlett and her Pirates Booty, Mr Torgues Campaign of Carnage and Sir Hammerlocks Big Game Hunt.
They then changed the schedule by announcing 2 un-scheduled DLC, the Psycho pack and the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack. They did give one of them away for free to season pass subscribers, but again as a new player you'd need to buy both. The 4th DLC, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragons Keep came next, bringing the original scheudle to an end.
However since then they have released the Ultimate Vault Hunters Upgrade Pack 2, not free to anyone, and are now saying they plan to release 3 "head hunter packs", the first due out soon called TK Bahas Bloody Harvest.
There is a also a fair bit of cosmetic only DLC.
So for someone like you and myself the cost of the game and all it's DLC is simply astronomical and honestly not worth even thinking about given the age of the game and the plethora of games on Steam for a fraction of the price. |

Actually the majority of my last post is out of date as the GOTY edition is out in 2 weeks. It contains everything up to DLC4, including the 2 new classes, 1st upgrade pack, and all the cosmetic stuff.
It doesn't appear to have the 2nd upgrade pack, nor the 3 headhunter packs, but will make what is currently $100 cost about half that. |

| I'm wondering what route to go as money is tight for me. I think I'll wait for a a Steam sale on the DLC .I can't pay $50 + for a game any more unless I hit the Lotto. I have to pick and choose what game to buy and wait till its on sale like Borderlands 2 was. I think the only game I bought this year at release time at full price was Diablo 3. |

Well the GOTY edition is £32 on Amazon PC, so will probably be £39 on Steam. I'd imagine it will go at least 50% over Xmas with all the DLC 50% too. I'd wait until then. |
|
 | I'll keep an eye out during the holidays. |
|
 | Ultimate Vault hunter 1 and 2 are the only ones I would recommend as they contain the level upgrades. |
|
 | Thanks for the info guys. |

Good call, I'd preordered the game so I started with the Mechro pack, and I got the season pass as well, the only thing I wanted beyond that was the psycho pack, which I waited to go on sale.
This game will probably be heavily discounted during the holiday sale as it has been during every single other major sale on Steam. -- Support Bacteria -- It's the Only Culture Some People Have |

I burnt out on this game after ~145 hours. I never even made it through Ultimate Vault Hunter before it became so boring and never even played any DLC. It all becomes about what weapons and shields you're "lucky enough" to have drop to be able to proceed further. Some weapons have such low drops rates, you'll never see some of them.
The problem I have with the game is the artificial difficulty they implement later on in UVHM. It gets old and frustrating, very fast. |

 | said by Ghastlyone:Some weapons have such low drops rates I thought the weapons were "mostly" randomised. As in, each weapon has 3-5 parts and each part brings different stats to make the entire weapon less or more effective than other random builds. This is how it was in the original game. Certain bosses dropped unique weapons but mostly they were terrible and guaranteed drops. The only rare weapons were the Pearlescent ones from the final big crab guy, I killed him 50+ times and never saw one drop. You didn't actually need them, it was more a bragging thing. |
