Did I get a used SB6141 or am I paranoid?

Click for full size
I just got a SB6141 connected to TWC today, Sept 28th. I purchased it from Amazon, ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - Retail Packaging - White, so it is not the OEM model. The product box itself was not shrink wrapped. The quick start guide was missing. The sticky labels across the product baggy were not damaged but I did not damage them either so it looks like new. After I had it provisioned and working on TWC I went into the log files and see entries for Sept. 4 and Sept. 8th. Was this modem used before? Comments please.

I would say your assumption is correct. At some point, someone had that modem powered up.
Was this modem purchase fulfilled by Amazon or was this through one of their vendors?

Maybe it's a new refurbished one.

Could very well be. I'm just surprised if it is refurbished, why it wasn't declared. I'm not sure what relationships Amazon has with their vendors or how they actually acquire products.

The product description says new. And the log shows activity just 20 days ago. Like someone returned it.

I think I would ask Amazon about it then and explain to them how you received it.

If you do, could you please let us know what they say. I would be interested in what they say.

Thanks.

Nice customer service. What are you going to do? I think if it's working correctly and you like it, I would select the 25% off.

I did respond with option 1. Knowing how Time Warner nickels and dimes you to death, I'd probably charged a fee for two modem swaps in a month. It does seem to be working ok (fingers crossed).

Myself, I think you made a smart choice. Good luck.
