does Ebox have any Caching Server?

Hi guys,

i am getting some issues with electronicbox on youtube.com. a quick traceroute shows the following ip i am routed to. its seems this is outside of electronicbox connection and i am getting heavy congestion and playblack ALWAYS stops.

I kind of doubt that Youtube would give some caching servers to a small ISP like Electronicbox. I DO wonder though if Ebox has access to Videotron cache servers...

(I do have slow performance on youtube too, but I think it's a general youtube issue in the part year)

peer1 has caching through their content delivery network....not sure for youtube though.....

yes through peer 1 its fine, but not through cogent

how about a squid proxy or contacting youtube to get a caching server? I am sure, you are sending enough traffic there way.

La performance pour moi est également mauvaise parfois sur youtube. Je fais un speedtest quand ça arrive et je suis pourtant à plus de 10 mbits donc j'ai la pleine vitesse de mon forfait. Ça semble arriver seulement sur youtube.

c’est pas le premier post sur ce sujet sur le forum DSLreports, tant au canada qu'au USA. Je touche du bois, j'ai jamais heu de bug sur youtube, fort heureusement.

Dans une autre ordre d'idée, j'ose même pas imaginer l'infrastructure pour fournir ce service à travers le monde. ça doit êtres totalement démesuré.

Moi j'ai eu durant un moment et j'ai passer par mon vpn pour arranger le problème.

Pour avoir des serveurs GGC (Google Cache), ça prend un minimum de traffic et de toute façon ça prend minimum 1Gbps de traffic vers Google à travers un peering exchange (TorIX par exemple) et EBox ne sont pas au TorIX.

Si vous avez plus que 1Gbps, vous pourriez faire la demande.. tout est gratuit (bon, faut fournir le space & power). C'est déjà mieux que de payer le transit vers Google à Peer1.

Je sais pas jusqu'à quel point Google est pressé de venir à Montréal par contre.. au moins c'est "officiel" pour Microsoft.
