Is it overheating?
Will it function in bridge mode?
Can you check the voltage of the power brick?
Is it still under warranty?

Is your circuit ADSL or VDSL?
If you are renting from CL, call and have them send another.
If not, you can probably find a used one at a reasonable price.

You can buy and use any DSL modem compatible with your circuit type. You just need to adjust the settings (VPI/VCI, etc.) to match your existing modem. The only problem is you will get limited support from CL if the modem in not on their compatibility list.

It should have a 1 year warranty, if purchased new.

If you have a multimeter, check the output on the power brick plug to see if it matches what is printed on the label (12v dc, or similar).

If renting from CL, call them. Otherwise, I would just look for a used VDSL modem (ebay, craigslist). You could get a new one from Best Buy. They should still carry one in the CenturyLink packaging for $99.

I have a C1000A that has worked well in bridge mode for almost a year. Others have had a lot of trouble with them.
