What's the model of the new wireless set top box Telus is selling? I know it replaces the CIS330 digital box. |

It's about time. The STBs Telus uses were first released around 7 years ago. I'm hoping for a newer faster PVR since the last software update has made the 430 so painfully slow to use. |

Cisco ISB7105 is the new wireless STB. It comes paired with a Cisco AP running in a the 5Ghz range which avoids all the 2.4Ghz wifi noise. |

5Ghz wifi has a lot more non-overlapping channels. In North America, 2.4Ghz only has channels 1, 6, and 11. » en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li ··· channels |

The cisco boxes were EOLed in July of this year and date of last order is January of next year. I wonder when Telus will announce a replacement. What will it take to get an upgrade? |

I'm curious about this as well. |

The CIS430/330 have already been replaced with the ISB7000 series. They hit the field several months ago.
They're physically quite similar. The new 330 (don't know the 7xxx number offhand) doesn't have an RF out, but the PVR does. ( I think the PVR is 7050.) The ports on the back are rearranged. The 7000s are noticeably faster, having a different CPU. (Broadcom instead of Sigma.) PVRs still have a 500gb drive.
There are still going to be lots of refurb CIS boxes going in as rentals and repair replacements. Rentals could be either type, depending on supply. Purchasing an STB will mean a new box, so you'd get a ISB7xxx.
If you want to upgrade, I think it's $100 for a replacement. That's the way it worked when people wanted to replace working PVRs with 160gig drives with 320s, or 160/320 to the current 500gb. |

The $100 is a charge for the extra installer visit. Just buy a Pvr at London Drugs or BestBuy and the additional installer visit fee is waived. |

I just finished chatting with an agent and the cost of switching my current PVR and two STB's to the new wireless system, including a wireless access point was near $350.00. My current plan expires this week. He tried to tell me it was the same for new customers which I argued with the Promotions page stating free install.... I'll follow up with Loyalty/Retenntion tomorrow. I'll let you know. |

What is the model number of the wireless AP for wireless Optik? I read it's separate from the Actiontech. I think my friend has a Cisco connected to his Actiontech. He is not bridged and claimed that Telus installed it on September 15 while getting his Optik/Internet upgraded. |

It shouldn't affect TELUS HD-box, because they are using Cisco ISB7105, and the end of life only affects ISB7000 and ISB7050 set top boxes. This only seems to affect the new HD-PVR (ISB7050). I wonder what TELUS will do once the EOL hits, perhaps another hardware upgrade? |
