How to recover password on Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 Wi-Fi

I have the same problem - used router, need to recover password. I have held reset button for 45+ seconds and unplugged for 10 seconds. Any other suggestions?

Should I assume that the password had been changed to something other than default?

Try entering root as the username and motorola for the password.

This "backdoor" worked for my SBG6580 when I got locked out at one point.
