[Help Me] DGL-4300 stops responding when connected to WAN

Hi All - I have had my DGL-4300 connected to my BT fibre modem for three years now without any problem. Today I could not access internet.

I have checked a few things and found out that when I connect the DGL-4300 to my BT fibre modem (WAN port). It does get connected then after a few seconds the router simply stops responding (i.e. web interface not responding, internet access lost).

I have tried a different cable between the router and the modem. No difference.
I have also connected a laptop directly to the modem. Internet access works fine.
I have reset to factory settings the router and re-entered manually the settings to connect to PPOE. NO chance. Same issue.

Any idea what could be wrong apart from a HW failure?

Thanks

Possible failure of the HW.
You sure that ISP modem hasn't change there services by chance. Signal should be good.

Try the 4300 on a different modem if you can...at a friends or families place.

Power off the router from the main power for 1 minute then reconnect...

Thanks. No luck.

Modem works fine connected directly to a laptop with ppoe connection too so I really can't see what my ISP might have changed which would create such an issue.

The same thing has happened to me to.
At the same day!
It has been working for years.
Now I can't access it even by cable. Reset does not help.

It works well before I connect. WAN.
Then it works for a minute , I measured 7 mbit.
After that it just stops working.

Curious that two people are seeing this.

Are you sure the ISP is using PPPoE and hasn't changed to a different connection method like DHCP?

Might try to MAC Clone the router to the PC.

I would recommend checking out a different router, if you can find a store that has a refund policy. I presume this should work. Might take the 4300 to a friends or families place as a test to see if the problem follows.
