[Cable] Buy a Motorola SB6121 but don't know firmware version

I am currently with start's cable service. My current cable modem is not supported any more and goes up and down crazily.

I need to buy a new cable modem anyway, the SB6121 is on my list. But I only can buy it online, such as from newegg.ca or tigerdirect.ca, I could not find any firmware from product.

My question is if I buy such modem with older firmware, and I try to hook up with start network, will start help me to upgrade firmware?

I'd highly recommend sticking with a vendor that can assure you the proper firmware release. The upgrade period on that modem has completed so it's highly unlikely that if you plug it in that you'll get the newer firmware, and the issues with the previous release and the new channel changes are very real and will not be pleasant for you. There are a couple vendors in these forums that sell that gear used, or we sell new equipment at a pretty good price - either way you can be sure that it'll be right.
