[TV] What's AMC's next move...

With Breaking Bad done and Mad Men on it's way out?

I wouldn't be surprised if Low Winter Sun is cancelled after this one season.

It looks like the spinoff around Odenkirk's Saul Goodman character is a go.

Low Winter Sun has bad ratings, they pushed Hell on Wheels to Saturday, they have a few holes to fill that's for sure.

Never watched The Killing. Though I've been wanting to check it out on Netflix.

Rubicon was a slow show, with very subtle back stories in each episode. I was bored watching it, until I saw the last show. Then it was like, Holy shit. Talk about a show that delivered.
But after it was canceled, I couldn't imagine how they would have topped what they did in the first season anyhow. So it was best to go out on a high note.

I think AMC wants low budget, decent quality shows. Though it seems they pour a lot of money into Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking bad, the rest of the shows seem to have smaller budgets.

I have to admit how ever, Netflix has spoiled me with being able to watch a whole season, with no commercials. I've found myself not watching shows I've DVRed. Instead I delete them and wait for them to pop up on Netflix.
I need to check out what stuff Amazon Prime has as well.

I think Mad Men is done this year too, and there a rumors of splitting it half too.

I don't think its about cheap shows per se, they buy/produce a show, it becomes massive and too expensive (actors/producers want more money).

They're going to have to find something quick the show cupboard is bare.

No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake.......

Agreed.
They have a replacement in the works for Breaking Bad, They call me Saul or something like that.

There might be a walking dead spin off.

Though for me, I think AMC should geta tad more "hardboiled" in it's program and go the way FX has gone. Push the envelop with swearing/nudity/violence. I just started watching The Bridge [FX], and wow, it's pretty engaging.
Heck, AMC might do good to add a medieval type show. Vikings did really well for History network.
I'm enjoying Hell on Wheels, but I think it'll run it's course sooner rather then later. They could use another western show, maybe use Hell on Wheels to jump start it? Something like Carson city, or Bonanza.

Hardboiled.. the godfather of bullet ballets.. I love that movie.

If they become hardboiled,t hey become Cinemax, which is the what their programming revolves around. Honestly I don't think you can get more violent and action oriented then Banshee.

Between skinemax style sex scenes, "Strike Back" is full of over the top 80's style action movie sequences. It's one of my favorite shows.

Currently my favorite show. Started watching last week and I finished season 3 episode 4 last night. Love the action and the banter between the duo. One of the few shows I actually feel what the characters are feeling. Also, the boobies are nice.

If any of you watched the first season, it was quaintly british, very reserved and stared of all people Andrew Lincoln(rick of Walking dead fame) till Cinemax upped the ante and action.

Anyway, they are apparently doing a backstory episode with the original members of the Strikeback team.

This might answer the questions being posed. It's few months old, but apparently AMC has 67 projects in the pipe.

Yes Strike Back in 2010, before it became more 'action' oriented.

Ahh I see. It seems there was a whole season that isn't on the Cinemax app I airplay through lol. I'll have to see where I can find it as I'd be interested in watching.

Also of note: the actor who plays Damien Scott(Sullivan Stapleton) plays the lead role in the upcoming 300 movie.

Fuck me!

I wonder if he'll use his favorite catchphrase in the 300 movie sequel.
