Re: [Outages] Outages Kitchener Waterloo- cable

Hope my net doesn't go down because so far it's been okay. Seeing all these people still out isn't very hopeful.

I have been down since Sunday in Kitchener N2M. DHCP problems. Haven't been able to get through to tech support - tried numerous times, and been on hold for over an hour each time. I finally created an account here to submit a ticket.

Cranky

@atrianetworks.net

Down in St. Jacobs since Monday morning. I heard it was DNS issues at Rogers.

Been out in Kitchener for almost 4 days now... It's 1030 am here hoping it will be up by tomorrow at least or else I'm going to have to consider switching providers as I work at home most days... I just refuse to support Rogers.... I posted in teksavvy direct forums in hopes I get a response an able to resolve this...

I do not think I am out. Though I have been in KW for 3 years, I still just say Kitchener and I have no idea all this west or south breakpoints in Kitchener.

Highland/Fischer-Hallman area.

skorek

@216.16.254.x

I am down in Chicopee area since Sunday night. Seem like that outage is not affecting everyone. Weird. The Teksavvy is very quiet about any.
Does anyone know, what is the easiest way to enter support ticket? I have sent email to support@teksavvy.com but got no response.

The easiest thing is to register an account here on DSLR and then create a new thread in »TekSavvy Direct, you will usually get a response in under 24 hours.

Still down since late Sunday night. Ticket opened, and waiting for a tech.

Here is what the told me at 6AM this morning:
We have submitted a ticket with our vendor to send someone to your house to correct the signal issue. The ticket number for this is XXXXXX

The tentative dates/time

04/10/13 - MID
05/10/13 - MID
07/10/13 - MID

- You will receive a call prior to the appointment to confirm your availability. If
the call is not answered, the appointment will be cancelled.

What gets me is the last line. What kind of customer service is this? I have to use my cell as a contact, and it doesn't work in my home (steel roof), which was never an issue as it get's forwarded, normally, to my home VOIP phone, but with no internet.... :-(

Not too happy with this at all, it could potentially be Monday before I see a tech, and if I am reading this right, I could never hear from them because I missed a call and didn't know it?!

I will NOT be paying for the days that I have missed service from TekSavvy - you have to provide the service in order to get paid for it. I realize this may not be their fault, but I am sure that if they successfully sued Rogers, we'd see no money either.

I am still down ( Breslau which is Grand Crest )
My return path is a little low ( 33-34 ) but I am not getting DCHP.
Tech is confirmed for Sunday.

Does it mean that opening a service ticket will resolve the problem?
We've been without internet since Monday, the same as many on this forum. Now it appears that if you open a service ticket they are going to come and fix the problem??? We've been waiting for the services being restored globally, not per service tickets.
Am I missing something here?

Hi Irina...
I have only dealt with Teksavvy for a little bit now, but from what I understand, they are being bullied by Rogers.
Sometimes the only thing that they can do is get Rogers to open a ticket to ensure that you get something fixed. It's something that is atleast trackable.
There is a global ticket opened for parts of Kitchener, but you could also be having an individual issue too.
I would suggest getting a service ticket opened regardless of the global outage.
That's just my take though.

Rogers does the calls themselves, iirc. It's their way to weasel out of showing up to TPIA appointments and one of the issues that CNOC has asked the CRTC to prohibit in their recent application.

I understand that - I can't believe that they can get away with it, or that as 3rd party users, the customers have to put up with this!

I was a Rogers customer for years, and never had them tell me this, so why should there service be any different for anyone else? SUCKS

Completely agree with you. Hopefully the CRTC does too.

it means they probably dropped some ip addresses into your area that used to be in saskatoon.

geolocating by IP is kinda crummy.

Will check my internet when I get home (N3 postal code). Do I have to do anything special, or should it just be up and running?

Was offline since Monday too... N2G area, confirmed RF issues. Now back online and happy. I suspect it had something to do with the Rogers truck and line workers I saw at my nearest intersection. I walked by and said you better be fixing my internet. LOL.
