 | Airview possible noise help Since I'm still learning, I do not know how much noise on airview is considered a problem or not.
The speeds on my nm5 link have been sketchy, so I did an AirView and noticed a spike in the middle of my freq, at 5,750.
My AP is setup at 40mhz wide at 5,745.
That spike is not my AP correct? And is that spike strong enough to cause me problems? |

I know I have used site survey before and found ruckus gear that Time Warner had deployed on poles recently |

 | reply to TheHox Well I didn't see anything in site survey. But then again, for some reason I don't even see my own AP in site survey. Hide SSID is NOT checked but I don't see it, I have seen others.
I changed my AP to 5,775 at 10mhz. I let the airview run longer which that helps make things stand out I see.
For 10mhz width that sure does have a lot of noise hanging over. |

That tiny little spike should have little impact, its really weak and narrow but you should be able to set 40mhz wide at 5775. Also you can try 30mhz, it doesnt use an extension channel like 40mhz does, and a bit better power density and less prone to noise. But depends on what speed you want to move thru the link. If you want to see close to 100 megabit probably should stay 40mhz. -- OptionsDSL Wireless Internet »www.optionsdsl.ca |
