claco join:2002-09-29 Tallmadge, OH | [Internet] Network Drops/Modem Access I'm about 2 months into a new TWC business connection at the office in Akron, OH. Nothing fancy. 7M/768k.
The hardware is a DDW3610 in bridge mode with a new Apple Time Capsule connected to the LAN1 port. For the most part, it works great. And for the first few days, things were solid.
Over the last 3 weeks, we've started to get random wifi drops where the ATC light simply turns off. Not green. Not amber. Just off. The drive is still spinning in it. It's not hot, or even barely warm. A power cycle and everything is back to normal. Sometimes I'll go all week and not see anything. Some days, like today, it happened twice in 3 hours.
While I don't necessarily think this is a problem with the DDW3610, I also have no way of knowing. The installer left no user/password to even get into the modem to view any sort of logs on what it thinks the connection and the ATC are doing with it. The normal user/user, admin, and mac-address users/passwords combos don't work. So at this point I have nearly nothing to troubleshoot with aside from returning the ATC for a new one, and/or switching to a Motorola modem where I have access to the logs.
The current and previous generations of ATC/AirportExtremes all seem to drop the Wifi connections when bridged modems they're using also drop the upstream connection and/or DHCP resets upstream. I've also heard some people suggest things like 5Gh frequency overlaps, interference, etc.
And help would be appreciated.
The DDW3610 info: Boot Code Version : 10.1.2 Software Version : 8.6.2009 Hardware Version : 4.31
The ATC is on firmware 7.7.1 (77100.2) |
