 | No more QAM in 94549 Woke up this morning to no more unencrypted channels in 94549 (Lafayette CA).
Last time we tried getting a decoder box it only had NTSC and modulated Ch3/4 output.
Goodbye to local HD channels with basic tier?
Unfortunately my wife refuses to allow a dish. We might try AT&T but I have a question I'll post over in that forum - we have crappy wiring in the neighborhood, no one gets more than 4 Mbit over DSL. If I sign up for an HD tier with AT&T, will they commit to upgrading the neighborhood wiring to the point I can watch HD? |

 | Since everyone is encrypted, why not just stay with Comcast? |

Limited basic subs can get at least 2 HD-DTA's FREE, & do NOT have to pay an (extra) HD tech fee. You're best bet is to go to your local office to pick them up; they should also know about the "no HD fee" thing for limited subs.

In our area, at least, Comcast is substantially more expensive than AT&T for an equivalent TV/Internet/voice package. Additionally, when I visit other people's homes the picture quality of Xfinity, at least for non-HD tiers, is crap. I can do better with my 2 Mbit DSL connection and a Roku/Apple TV/etc box.` |
