Water Heater Brand

So I am specifically wondering if anyone has any direct experience with Lochinvar brand water heaters (which I had never heard of before).

I was looking at an AO Smith model, and a friend suggested the Lochinvar, thinking that it would be cheaper for the same thing.

Can't seem to find much on Google, especially recent info. It looks like Lochinvar may have been a brand of Bradford White, but now seems to have been acquired by AO Smith. The dealer my friend uses claims the Lochinvar and AO Smith are made on the same line and are virtually the same thing.

I am looking for a standard tank heater, atmospheric vent, 50gal, 50k BTU NG.

Thanks.

A.O. Smith acquired Lochinvar in 2011, so your friend is probably right.

A 50gal standard tank should be about 380+tax wholesale.. All the mfgs are about the same, its the markup that gets ya.

I prefer AO Smith or State, but as nunya said, techically theyre all the same company.. (AOS, State, Loch, American, Reliant, Craftsmaster, Whirlpool, etc etc)
