BSAIII join:2007-06-16 Apple Valley, CA | [Guide] Wish list next software update Warning, rant follows. The networks need to stop ending shows 1 or 2 mins late.
That said, if the networks insist on doing it the guide needs a new option. Allow ENDING a recording 1 or 2 minutes early.
Also, a DVR needs the option a plain STB has in a multi-DVR setup. When recording a show ask which DVR to use even if there is no local conflict. |

2 edits | I strongly agree. For me, I would love the option to end a show that runs (9pm - 10:01 pm) 1 minutes early. So that if I have 2 shows starting recording at 10pm, there is not going to be a conflict.
As of now, we only have the option to Record a show starting 1 minute early , and ending 1 minute late.
We do not have an option for Start recording 1 minute late, or Stop recording 1 minute early.
Implementing these in the next Software Update is imperative, IMO. Especially with only 2 Tuner DVRs.
I can not tell you how many times per week I run into the "dreaded 1 minute late debacle." I then have to re-recording the show or shows that are effected the next time they are shown. Sometimes it is just 2 hours or so afterwords. However with my wife watching Revenge on Sunday nights. She has to watch the show on Demand several days later, or she watches it Live, and I am left out in the cold with what I want to watch.
The same thing went for Covert Affairs on Tuesday nights. It runs 1 minute late, and that messed up my recording schedules etc.
It would be a great pleasure to see this included with the next Software Update. At least for me and my family, it would make things so much easier. |

They are trying to force you to record the "next show" that comes on, so you can catch the last 1-2 minutes of the one you wanted to watch.
Of course, you are supposed to get interested in that next show, and continue to watch it as well.
You do realize that psychologists design things that way for a reason, they are trying to get you hooked. -- ROCK 'TIL SUNSET |

I would love for HD channels to be automatic when selecting its SD flavor rather then having to press the "C" button. Everytime I go over my Mothers house I have to show her the difference between watching SD and HD on our her HDTV. I just know next time Im over she still will be watching SD instead... |

 | Even cranky Cablevision automatically switches to HD when you click an SD channel.
btw - with no way to watch SD if you really wanted to. |

this has been my biggest pet peeve with Fios. When I had Directv, I thought to myself, this is a no brainer. In the 21st century, I don't want to watch an SD channel on my 51 inch. I hate having to press C. |

And I hate being forced to watch 4:3 content stretched out to fit the screen when watching some HD channels (Family Guy on TBS HD, for example).

I want the option to create more than just 2 favorites program guide lists.
Directv had 4. |

Perhaps this has already made its way to other topics, but I wish I could have the HD mapping of all channels. Dish Network used to have this feature, I believe they still do, it was introduced at the beginning of the HD frenzy. What I mean is when going on channel 400 HBO SD, the STB automatically map that channel to its HD feed. That would be great, I am not sure if this is a software/firmware or hardware feature. |
