 | MiFi 4620LE: RUIAUTO Invalid packet state Two weeks ago I upgraded from 3G on U760 to 4G on MiFi 4620LE. The speed increase has been phenomenal (10Mbps down/2Mbps up). Mostly I've been happy, but I've been getting disconnected multiple times a day with the WAN log on the 4620 showing:
10/01/13 01:31:02pm> NWPM_EVENT_CALL_CONNECTED 10/01/13 01:31:02pm> 4G LTE Connected 10/01/13 01:30:45pm> NWPM_EVENT_CALL_END 10/01/13 01:30:45pm> 4G LTE Disconnected 10/01/13 01:30:45pm> [RUIAUTO] Invalid packet state
As you can see, it reconnects within 15 seconds or so, and in many applications it would not be noticed. However, I use remote desktop to server and TELNET sessions to mainframes. When the disconnect happens I loose all my sessions an have to reconnect, sign-on, get back to where I was. With the old 3G, I'd have a disconnection maybe once or twice a week - it was very stable overall.
I've googled and found people saying the invalid packet state on the 4620 is due to tethering (not doing it) tower issues, signal strength issues, or bugs on the 4620. Not sure what to believe, but I'm thinking of picking up a cheap Pantech UML290 and switching my SIM to it. Is there any consensus in this group that switching to the Pantech would have a reasonable chance of fixing the disconnects?
FYI: Not tethering, external omni antenna, 2 bars signal, locked to LTE, latest firmware installed. -- Millenicom:Verizon:3G |

I just googled RUIAUTO and one of the suggestions was: disable IPv6. |

You have no choice. With Millenicom on Verizon 20GB, its the 4620LE or nothing. -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |

 | I know, but others, in this forum, have said they were able to move the millinicom SIM from the 4620LE to the UML290 (using a SIM adapter). Are you saying that won't work? -- Millenicom:Verizon:3G |

I've seen the same post, I disabled IPv6 over a week ago. No difference regarding the RUIAUTO disconnects. -- Millenicom:Verizon:3G |

I just moved from Verizon to att for my work WiFi because of this issue. Its a known problem with these Novatel devices, yet nothing appears to be in motion to fix it.
You could look at the netgear mifi or cradlepoints as an alternative. |

I was on the 4G network for a period of time with a UML290 and a Cradlepoint MBR1000 and it ran well, good speeds and it stayed connected. When I signed up with Millenicom and ran with the supplied hotspot (4620), it was like night and day. I tried all of the suggested settings from various forums and could never get the stability I was used to. Once I moved the sim card from the 4620 to the UML290 (with the adapter), I was back to good speeds and a stable connection. This seems to be the solution. |

Moving the sim to a 290 seems to be the solution for those who have the hotspot problem, so yes it will work -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |

 | Thanks all for the input. I'm going to give the UML290 a shot. Not too much to invest if it works no better than the 4620 and a bargain if it does work. Ordering UML290, SIM adapter, and antenna adapter today. -- Millenicom:Verizon:3G |

Im with Millenicom and the Vz 20GB Plan. I have no 4620LE, and I have 4 systems using it at the same time. Its this some shitty change? |
