| [Networking] Outage Notification - What am I supposed to do? This morning I received an email from Verizon Notification titled Important Notification from Verizon
Dear Customer,
An issue has been detected impacting all of your Verizon FiOS services. This includes using the Internet, email, home telephone, watching FiOS TV, and Video on Demand. Please visit www.verizon.com/outage to request automatic updates, and for more information.
Sincerely, Verizon
At www.verizon.com/outage I can't figure out how to find out anything about my situation. Everything seems fine. It sounds like they are alerting me to a fiber out. If things were really down, would there have been information specific to my address after I logged in? |

Did it ask you to log in? |

| Yes it did ask me to log in. But then I could find no specific information. My assumption was that the problem was fixed or never existed.
The full URL looked as though it might lead to some specific information: »econtact.verizon.com/ecrm/includ···d=609142 |

| Right-click the shortcut in the email you received, choose "copy shortcut" or "copy link location" or similar, and paste it into a new text document to see if that's actually the URL the link would take you to.
Not saying this is a phishing email, but it smells fishy. |

| It looks reasonable to me as a real Verizon site. I though the URL I posted would be view-able by all. Here it is again without the https: //

I got one of those a couple of weeks ago. They also called with an automated message. My service never was out, and I found it rather funny that they sent me an email and called my phone to tell me my internet and phone wasn't working. There was a message on my account when I logged into My Verizon with a estimated repaired-by time. -- Job 42 |

If all your services were really out you wouldn't have even seen the e-mail.
After a power failure last year I lost all services when power was restored. I had to use my cell phone to call Verizon to report the problem. Fortunately they were able to send out a replacement ONT the same day.
I had FiOS TV installed two years ago. After the installer left I discovered I had no phone service but the Internet and TV still worked. I got that problem straightened out with a long chat session with Verizon on the Internet, but I wasn't very happy that day. |

Fortunately I don't use Verizon email and can receive my mail on my phone.
