Look at the running costs as well.. plasma eats power compared to a LED backlit LCD.

Newer plasmas are much more efficient it's really not an issue any more.

Even the most efficient plasma tvs uses double the energy for the same screen size.

It's become such a small number that it doesn't matter. The first generation plasmas doubled for heaters as did Tube TV's, at this point just about any TV bought now will use very little energy. I got rid of a 30 inch tube tv in bedroom that was 20 years old and replaced in with a 31 inch LCD and I swear my electric bill actually dropped from the switch. Switching a plasma to a LCD will show no real life difference.
