Yep, just seen it a few hours ago. Another nice feature gone...

It was a cool feature. I do wonder if its in preparation for the Home Media Server. I assume it will be able to do much of what Media Manager did and more.

What about the people that don't get the new Home Media Server right away? And who knows if it will have anything to do with what the Media Manager did. And the Media Server is still not even out yet.

The message on the STB announcing this had the various options available after the end of Media Manager. Purchased items will still be available everywhere but private content will be deleted from the cloud. To access content on my PC from my TV I use a DLNA client on my smart Blu-ray player -- it works so much better than Media Manager and actually stream HD from the PC. Media Manager did not do streaming HD from the PC. I won't miss it.

It would always get my audio out of sync during any media file I tried to play. Sometimes it would take 5 mins, other times more but the audio would always get out of sync so I never used it after trying it out. I agree with Timothy that its to devote all the multimedia engineers and programmers to the Home Media Server apps.

I'm hoping it means the Home Media Server isn't very far off.

I tried it a long time ago but gave up on it. I didn't like how it make my videos look terrible and couldn't play mp3s no matter what I tried.
(old thread about it: »Does Media Manager video streaming work for anyone? )

Here's a link to Verizon's announcement about discontinuing it:

I bought a ROKU and use Plex to stream my media. So much better than what VZ had.
