Here they don't use raised panels. They use photovoltaic shingles. I'd imagine they cost a bit more but look way better. You can treat them just like any other roofing material.

Solar shingles aren't really that new; I first laid hands on them some 15 years ago or so. For whatever reasons they have just never really taken off like they should have, but now all of a sudden they're getting popular. |
