Re: [none] Rate Increase E-Mail

In addition to resellers may want to see if there is a local CLEC that services your area. Competitive Local Exchange Carriers rent Telco copper loop but everything else is provided by the CLEC. I switched landline and DSL about a year ago here in NH and have been pleased with the change.

As always it really depends on the quality of the CLEC.

Thanks, I will give DSL extreme a try. I am not sure the Verizon Regional package is offered here.

I have two suggestions for you to get more bang for your buck. First if you are just interested in DSL I would contact a Verizon DSL reseller and see what they have to offer in your area. DSL Extreme currently offers 3000/768 DSL service in Verizon's territory for $24.95/month (with a 1-year contract).

If you have use for (or need) a POTS phone you would be better off bundling your Verizon High Speed Internet Enhanced DSL with Verizon Regional Essentials phone service for $44.99/month (plus taxes and fees). That would give you better value but only if you need/want the phone. Verizon Regional Essentials includes unlimited local and regional calling plus Voice Mail, Caller ID and Call Waiting.

Oh, damn. Well I don't know what to tell you then, outside of calling to see if there is a way to drop your price.

I am on a LiteSpan remote terminal so the 3.0 speed is all I can get.

I was paying that amount for over a year, until I had them switch me from my old speed package to their current one.

ie: I went from 3.1 "Internet Extra" package to their current "High Speed Internet Enhanced" 3.1-7.0 speed package.

So there is a chance your current package expired. Not sure what speed you have, but if it is 3.1, you should be able to switch to the 7.0 package either at no cost or so.

[none] Rate Increase E-Mail

This appeared in my inbox this afternoon, anyone else get one? Looks like Verizon is trying to beat the cable company to their annual January increase.

Dear Valued Verizon Customer,

We realize you have choices when it comes to your broadband services. That’s why we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for being a loyal customer and for choosing Verizon as your broadband provider.

We hope you understand that to maintain our broadband networks, from time to time we need to increase our rates. Your monthly rate will increase from $34.99 to $36.99 (not including additional services or, taxes and surcharges) and will be reflected on your bill within the next two months. The new rate will remain in effect for one year.

If you would like to review your account to see if you may qualify for savings by taking advantage of our bundles or if you have any questions, please log on to myverizon.com or give us a call at 1.888.214.3354.

To keep your current service as is, no action is required, and any credits or discounts remain in effect until their original expiration date. If you have recently upgraded to a new plan, please disregard this letter.

Thank you again for your business and we hope to serve you for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Your Verizon Team
