 | [WIN8] no internet connection On a Vaio using an Ethernet cable for internet connection (the house is wired with access in several rooms) lately I am randomly losing connection to the net. The laptop would say im on an undefined network with no internet connection, im able to connect to printer, storage and other pcs in the network but no internet access. If i try to repair the connection it says that "Ethernet adapter doesn't have a valid ip configuration...not fixed". I could turn on the laptop and have a connection for either hours or sometimes just a few minutes, after that the only way I can fix it is to cycle the router in the basement, some other times the connection fails right after a new app is installed (even that is random). The other desktops in the house have no problems, the laptop does and no matter what patch cable im using or which plug so at least those are ruled out. This seems to have started after I used the laptop connecting to the net through another desktop in the house but there were no changes made on the laptop(coincidence?). I just cant understand why now it connects and disconnects randomly, I just started using win8 and its driving me nuts... |

Assign your vaio a static ip address in your router and see if it stops.
Let (me/other readers) know what brand/model of router you use if you don't know how. |
