Replies to Reviews

I tried to reply to a review only to have my reply rejected because "anonymous users need to select a name" (which seems reasonable) EXCEPT that there was no apparent way to "select a name" -- and, of course, no way for a registered user to Log In on the page where the reviews are displayed.

I had to find my way over to Forums, then Log In, then find my way back to the review to post a reply.

If the site requires login or selecting a name, then there ought to be a reasonably obvious way to do so without needing knowledge about other parts of the site.

From a full reply (click more) it allows you to do either, choose an anon name or click the + and put in your username/password.

Agreed, this is not user friendly and in fact appears to be a bug.

When logged out, pressing the "reply" button on an existing comment under an ISP review or a news article opens the quickreply interface. This is not consistent with the behavior of the "reply" button for logged out users in general forums which opens the normal reply interface.

Attempting to use the default quickreply function while logged out will result in an error as n4aof See Profile noted.

I never realized that anon posters were presented with quick reply but you're right they are if they reply to another poster in the review if you use the your comment link you get the full reply.

that's pretty sad and I've fixed it up.

Firstly the quick reply for anons removes the Post button and makes the More button a Continue button, which carries over whatever they've posted so far to the main posting screen.

Secondly I've removed the stupid google ad from the preview of their new post, and fixed the display of their details before they've chosen a name (it incorrectly said "System" until they typed an anon name in).
