1 edit | [Internet] Random Modem Reboots BHN Bradenton SBG6580 It all started on monday, Im not sure why but randomly every 4 to 5 hours or so, my Surboard reboots screwing up my whole network. I work from home so constant internet connectivity is a must. I recently put in the works for a static IP and im shceduled for a tech to come out to my house to make sure the settings are correct. (beyond the point, dont know why they cant just give me the IP over the phone or by email, and not treat me like an idiot.) If anyone has any ideas why my modem is constantly rebooting please let me know.
Thought I would put in the error messages in the log

Its funny you say that because I just had a tech come out here last month and he checked all the signal levels, from the street to various places in my office and they were, what he said extremely good. |

You can check what the modem is reading if you have the login for it. I think it will show the power of the bonded channels in the status section. Downstream should be between -10 and 10. I can't remember the range for upstream, but I know it's not supposed to be above 50. |

GeNomer join:2013-01-21 Indianapolis, IN | Yeah, those downstream levels are low. Not sure about upstream, but I know on my modem, they are all in the 48-50 range, so I suspect yours may be too low as well. |

I wonder if that is an easy fix? Does a signal booster need to be installed or does there need to be higher provisioning from BHN? |

I assume this is Jon...make sure your tech tomorrow is aware of the disconnects before he does anything else. If it is not resolved by tomorrow let me know and I'll address it. As for the requirement to have a tech out that is just not an option on statics...we need to make sure that everything works from the start and configuring this remotely is well...suffice it to say it's just easier for us to come out there. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. Thanks for the reply on another note is it necessary for them to give me a huge RCA Thomson modem for my phone. it used to be used as a combined modem/gateway/router/wireless access point and now it just being used as a phone modem on a splitter. is there anything else that is smaller that can do the same thing. It a giant brick that sits on my desk.
Is there also a way to bridge the SurfBoard to my existing router so i dont have this NAT nightmare?
Sorry for all the questions. I've been told if I ever have issues your the guy to go to. HAHA |

Discuss this with your tech tomorrow and if you get no solutions offered let me know and I'll do what I can. As for bridging certainly you can do this yourself actually. Login to the modem and follow the steps below IN ORDER. Also you will need to let the tech know tomorrow you wish to continue being bridged as there are script differences he will need to pay close attention to so it works right.
Login to modem....
Turn off DHCP Turn off NAPT Modem will reboot on it's own Reboot modem and router again...wait 4 min to sync Enjoy your new non double NAT life... -- ~All truth goes through three phases. Fair warning if you don't follow the above steps in order the universe will end as we know it....please make sure this doesn't happen as I haven't finished my bucket list yet....
On a more serious note perhaps not quite universe ending it is nonetheless bad...so do it in order please. |
