Cablevision's sun outage notice

Cablevision informed tenants in my building that this time of year there may be outages because the sun is low in the sky, directly behind TV satellite, overpowering the signal, and there's nothing they can do about it. Sounds like it would cost money to do something about it and they don't want to spend it. Has anyone heard of this before? I haven't and I've had Cablevision for years for TV and internet.

Yes I've heard about this before, and it happens every year fall. It's nothing to do with money, it's everything to do with the geosynchronous orbit that the satellites are in. Directv and Dish have issues with it as well.

Haha Sorry! I went for proof of it being a problem rather than specific posts.

I had searched Google News for "solar" and found nothing about this, from what I could tell from the first several results. Good to know it's not just the cable company that my building's stuck with.
