[LA] Signals back to normal

Today my signals mysteriously changed. I switched to a different cable and everything was back to normal. Can coax go bad overnight? It caused signal degradation.

My guess would be the act of disconnecting the coaxial either discharged some static electricity built up or caused the modem to rescan the frequency range. I mean its also possible a surge came through the coaxial, but that would damage the modem and splitters long before it damaged the actual wire.
