Even if we get a patch 5.5 it won't be anything major (a bit like Ruby Sanctum was) and I'd expect a 6.0 release June 2014 time and they will want to generate a buzz.
Likelihood of getting a WoW xpac name here? Any facts/opinions? Didn't see this anywhere yet, and honestly bored at work.
Humor me please!
OK well here goes....Blizzard has recently trademarked two names....or so the rumor mill says, they are:
The Dark Below Heroes of the Storm
It doesnt mean either of those terms are meant for WoW, but according to rumor the Heroes of the Storm has some commonality with how Blizzard has done before in terms of timing of TM against the time an xpac was announced at a Blizzcon.
The Dark Below seems more reasonable as it could tie into the Old Gods, but Heroes of the Storm could refer to the screen loading tip I've been seeing a lot recently about No one having seen Alleria and Turlyon (spelling of those may be off) in years.....
I read all about the trademarked names when they made a big fuss about them.
I fully expect a revel, and you know they'll do a 5.5, and most likely 5.6 will be the patch with the events leading into next xpac (seems to always be .6 that leads in).
New WoW Expansion. Release date or beta announcement for D3 expansion. Hearthstone public beta date or maybe release date. Maybe some stuff on the last SC2 "expansion".
Heroes of the Storm is more likely, but "Mists" and "Storms" are a bit too similar themed to follow back to back in my opinion.
I would trust your opinion in this case!
I could be wrong.
My logic is that having a continent surrounded by mists is a novel idea, but to use a similar idea the next expansion along isn't going to go down well. Plus Throne of Thunder has already had a "storm" type theme. It's just too soon.
The only other possibility is that "storm" doesn't refer to a thunder storm, but maybe a cosmic storm, which would tie in with the belief that the next expansion will be focused on the Draeni and set it space/Argus.
I just think that Blizzard won't revisit old themes that close to when they did it previously.
