1 edit | Movie Pak Cablevision is now offering a catalog video on demand service similar to Netflix. Movie Pak costs $2.95 for the first 3 months and $5.95 for each month after. It has what is described as "thousands" of on demand movies. There is not a huge selection of HD movies, maybe 20% of the catalog. I checked on about 10 random titles and none of them were on Netflix. And there seems to be a bug in the system and there is no resume feature right now.
The SD movies are "postage stamp". Many of the titles are unrated.
When I called to add the service the Rep did not know what I was talking about. Movie Pak can be found on channel 500 and it is the 4th one on the list.
Not sure how often new titles are added. There is no section for recently watched or just added. And like I said there is no resume feature for now. |

 | Sounds similar to Comcast's "StreamPix" service -- an assortment of on-demand movies and TV shows for around $5/month. |

I believe it came out on Oct 1. It's slowly rolling out to each area. I am going to check it out when I get home. I doubt it will be worth 6 bucks a month. -- Mets, Cowboys, Devils |

 | I agree with you that it is not worth $6.00 per month. There are a very large amount of movies but most of them are very generic and have very poor acting, lighting, etc. I will probably just keep it for the 3 months at $3.00 per month and then cancel. It can take awhile to find a movie that you want to watch since there are so many. The alphabet is divided into sections - A to C, D to F, etc. Each section has like 25 pages of titles. You can also browse by type of movie if that is faster. The SD picture is horrible and the HD movies are soft. And so far the titles do not show up in the active rentals section and there is no resume. |

I wish there was a section for just HD -- Mets, Cowboys, Devils |

The resume feature is now working. I agree that there should be a HD section. You can also add the movies you want to see to the movie cart. |

 | We have watched about 5 movies and we all agree that Movie Pak is not even worth $3.00 per month. CV should be giving this package free as part of Optimum Rewards. We will be unsubscribing in the next day or so. |

It's unfortunate that the movie quality doesn't look good. Is it really black bars on top and sides for SD movies?
But only one person said that. Would like to get more people's feedback on that.
They have an incredible selection of movies though. Just wish the quality was better, can't see why it should be bad. Once again only one person reviewed the quality. |

Its roughly the same catalog that Comcast Streampix and Verizon's Viewnow (Both $4.95/mo) have which amounts to around 2000 movies of which maybe 20 are worth watching. Id go for the 3 month special so you can at least see 20 decent flicks then cancel. |
