[General] Ecco and Amazon and country of origin

I don't buy Chinese made products unless I have absolutely zero choice.

For a long time my work shoe of choice has been Ecco, being that they are comfortable and majority of their product is made in Portugal or Slovakia. I would go to the mall try on a pair, their sizes stay remarkably consistent.

I come home and order it on Amazon for 50-60 dollars less often.

Recently I have gotten a Ecco Seattle shoe which is made in Slovakia. I really like it but it has a tiny discoloration that can happen in tanning leather and I ordered a replacement. However the replacement is made in China. The Chinese model is a bit of a different color and has much stiffer leather. Same design but a bit differently made.

However the Amazon site clearly shows a picture of the shoe with the "Made in Slovakia" tag.

The person on support barely knew what I was talking about but promised to get it taken care off...so we will see, for now I mailed the replacement back, hope the next pair is the EXACT model.

It is becoming both easier to buy products from countries with acceptable labor laws, but these kind of advert moves are not doing Ecco, which used to be a great shoe maker, any favors.

This is not the greatest post in the world, no, this is just a tribute!

Wonder if the ones you got were fakes? That has been happening quite a bit with stuff. China will copy anything if they can make a few penny's.
