[AZ] Will Cox deny service based off of credit score?

Hello,

I am a new Cox customer and have no credit, but my FICO score reports 680 on Equifax. Would Cox deny based off of my score and having no credit?

Cox may not deny you service based off your credit score, however they will probably require a security deposit upfront.

It's best that you call and talk to a customer service representative for the full disclosure and procedures.

Note: I don't work for Cox.

You don't even need to give your SS# to get service.

But as mentioned you may need to give a deposit.

Thanks for the reply.

I called and they said they will not deny service, but a deposit may be required. Is this true for companies like Verizon and AT&T too? (You can't be denied service but may have to pay a deposit)

Yes. Any utility, cell phones, etc.

Even with a score in the low 800's, the majority of utilities and service providers will still ask for a deposit for the first few months or a regular, maintained deposit.

Far as they're concerned, it's income. Good luck ever getting it back.

My credit is terrible, FICO in the high 400s, and Cox did not require a deposit.
This includes a collection from Charter actively reporting...
If it helps, I went to the Cox store itself and signed up.

COX at one time used Risk Management as their credit scoring company. They use a special system they won't tell you about nor does COX really have any information about it. If you want a true credit score. Get your score from all 3 and then what ever your lowest is; is generally your score that banks will go for credit.

Also COX doesn't really run credit nor does any other MSO. Telcos will depending on the service and what they're giving you as equipment- such as AT&T U-Verse would run a credit check due to the modem and STBs.

Sprint uses Risk Management for their credit checks and are from 125$ and up. If you want to avoid paying any deposit to a MSO use a reseller.
