Re: CFL BH TV going ALL Digital! ""If you have a Newer TV with the Digital Tuner (QAM\ATSC Tuner????).....although Channel numbers wouldn't be the same (Channel 1008 would be 8.1); and, you would not get the upper channels..... you would be able to tune at least from 1 to 99 and get those basic channels....and not need a DA....?""
You wouldn't get any encrypted channels.... |

said by cordero7:I just called bright house and they weren't very helpful with this process. The only options available were to either go to a local office to pick up the device myself or to wait over a week for a tech to come out to my area on a workday weekday (which is crazy).
If the devices are about the size of a smart phone, and are super easy to hook up, then they should technically be easily and inexpensively mailed out. I can't believe bright house doesn't have that option available. Why would Bright House pay for an expensive employee/tech's salary, pay for gas etc. just for a very simple delivery?
Why not just mail the digital adapter out to the customer if they request it? It would be cheaper and more convenient for both Bright House and the customer.
This situation just reminded me of the most recent episode of South Park:
"Then theres Time Warner Cable, which isnt actually referenced in the episode by name but the logos on the shirts of the sadomasochistic cable-company employees depicted in the episodes sure look familiar. Those shirts are also drawn to have flaps that descend to reveal the employees nipples, which they rub ecstatically as various South Park characters complain to them about everything from the inability to pick cable channels a la carte to the incredibly long waiting times for service repair."
"We'll just need to find a window of time you can be home... How about between the hours of 6 am and 3 pm all of November? "
Im sorry sir, if you need it now perhaps you should switch to another cable company, the representative coolly and condescendingly replied while suggestively rubbing his own nipples. Oh wait. Theres not another cable company, is there? Were the only one in town.
Jeez that's too bad. You need to be home for the technician. Have you thought of switching to DirecTV?
"Oh I'm sorry. Our company doesn't work that way. You want me to give you the number of a different cable company that can- [goews back to rubbing his nipples] Oh wait, we're it, aren't we? [rips off the patches and rubs his nipples again] Dangit, I guess you have to deal with it"

There is a mail to option and my apologies for any confusion that may have resulted during your conversation with the rep. Also I have checked your area and there is no reason for you to wait a week for a tech. I could have someone out there as soon as tomorrow unless it was your schedule that complicated things a bit. We also have techs for weekend installs. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. No you will need a DA or box. There will be a few Clear QAM channels depending on your area and that is all. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident. - Arthur Schopenhauer ~

 | Dang! Most Customers I bet have more than 2 TV's in their Homes.....and BHN is only giving 2 DA Free up until the date that even those will at todays price setpoint Costs $1.00 per month.
Hopefully there may be an option to purchase DA's....like BHN has done with the Modems? Are these DA the same as the ones sold way back when Digital Broadcasting was started years back? Some Retailers still sell these adaptors...and they are readily available Online......
The $1.00 won't break me, but these retail purchased Tuners are resilient...and seem to last forever....so it might not be a Bad investment..... |

Is the DTA 170HD the unit that is new? I just had one of these installed here in Clearwater. It appears to work great, but there does not seem to be any way to set favorite channels. Am I missing something. I have it hooked up thru HDMI.
Thanks,
Sam |

As I stated earlier this conversion only applies to CFL and will only address questions from those folks in this thread. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident. - Arthur Schopenhauer ~
