 | For about a month now I've been having a odd packet loss issue. This packet loss is making online gaming unplayable and streaming impossible as it randomly "pauses" the stream. Using pingtest.net to test different servers along with pinging for a few minutes in command prompt to websites like Yahoo or YouTube leaves me with about 2-3% packet loss on average 24/7. If I get lucky I can get a few min with 0 packet loss but the connection is very unstable/random.
To troubleshoot I tried to eliminate any problems before contacting the ISP. I got a new D3.0 modem from my ISP, new cat5, tried different computers. Even hooked up a router and tried on WiFi to find the same packet loss. At this point I was 100% sure it was out of my bounds so I called the ISP. They sent out a supervisor after the first tech couldn't find the problem. They got 0% packet loss when testing from the box, regardless he ran new lines, fittings, tap. After I all that I still get 3% packet loss on average. What could be causing this? |
