TuneUp..It's been awhile.

Knowing history and understanding concepts, after the sale of Norton [Post Canadian] and the demise , or rather the bloated goat. We then moved on to TuneUp and I have been fairly happy having that take care of four hours worth of work a week; until an attempt to purchase 2013 with a private VPN account a few weeks ago. Now, how could one pass up all that for $34, really.

Fast forward to reality, downloaded the US version and used the reg key -Only to face down a German language pack, nothing on the front end of loading indicated an issue and it blew my SSD to hell and gone. I also find two serious issues, one it's now owned by AVG, not bad perhaps in and of itself, however company software buy outs have never resulted in anything good! Then number two the blistering "Open your system to us, or don't load it" came off as a wee bit heady. I got a reimbursement.

Anyway, for those that have actually used TuneUp, understand it, what's the story since 2010, 2012, 2013 and now 2014 ? I don't see any traffic at all; perhaps for good reason, though I'm more interested in those that understand software and have used it, verse those that simply have an end user opinion.

Thanks

I stopped using TU with version 2010 I think. As I recall 2008 was the last version that did not have anything running in the background constantly and 2010 was the last version that did have stuff running the in the background but you could still disable it. 2011 and newer have stuff running the background constantly and it cannot be disabled.
