Cheers!

Thank you, all. You reminded me that I use a remote backup service called Crashplan. I thought those services were set up to be 'friendly' in that they went to the back of the line when a real user needed the bandwidth. I shut it off, switched to Channel 11, and that fixed everything. Now popping ~5Mbps on Speedtest - wired and WiFi. I'm a hero in the house.
THANK YOU!!!

Maybe all your apple devices are uploading to the cloud and causing the slow speed. This would explain why the AT&T tech got great speeds using their test laptop, etc. I would also recommend as others have said, try one wired device (that doesn't upload to cloud) and see if it helps

Idk. Probably some type of remote backup or Dropbox type service is most common. If those stats are right It says it's transmitted 3GB in 3 days, which is probably killing your connection at times.

I would disable the wireless for now and test with a wired device.

OK. Your 2WIRE424 is on Channel 10 - not good. Put it on 1, 6, or 11. And based upon the snapshot you posted, I would recommend 11.

What happens here is that your 2WIRE424 is being clobbered by the overlap from the channel 6 WiFis (I know not yours, but your 2WIRE does need to see all those packets too regardless, if it is on channel 10 - This is what can put that additional burden on your router and slow things down). The only really isolated channels are 1, 6, 11.

Back to recommendations:
1. (simple test) Turn off the 2wirewireless when the performance sucks and see if that helps.
2. (simple) Get off of channel 10.
3. (more involved) Buy a dual band router and use 5.0GHz with your 2wire in bridge more

FYI, in my case, my neighbors were all over the various channels and I had no choice for an isolated band; hence I went with option 3 after dealing with months of option 1.

Your stats look respectable. I would disable the wireless and run the wired only for a bit.

My experience with these 2wire devices is that the wireless can sometimes slow down the whole router even if it is not your wireless devices connected to your 2wire. This was the key reason I ditched my 2wire a while back. Even with none of my own wireless traffic, there was enough from neighbors that was overwhelming the 2wire, that it dragged down my wired performance.

You never set security?

Thanks, bbear2.

The attached image was just taken from InSSIDer, from my desktop iMac using 2Wire424. The TimeCapsule you see on the chart is also mine.

What do the wireless signals in your area look like? How many, which channels, and how strong are they? If you need, download InSSIDer to view them.

Thanks rg13. But what would be causing all that upload. I'm not running a server or anything like that.

If that transmit bytes is right you've uploaded almost just as much as you've downloaded (-3GB) which probably indicates your upload is saturating your link.

Your stats are good. You should disconnect everything and test with one wired machine for a little while.

I get painfully slow DSL speeds - wired and via my WiFi - on all Apple devices in the house: a 4yo iMac running OS X 10.8.4, iPhones and iPads. A speedtest.net run tonight shows download of 0.55 Mbps wired on the iMac and 0.06 on my iPhone 4s (which is super fast on the WiFi at my office).
The router is a 2Wire 2701HG-B.
ATT service was at my house and speedtest ran around 5.0Mbps while they were here - she called and said she got me switched to a new DSL bank (not sure of that terminology) - but just a few days later it's back to sluggish again.
My suspicion is that the problem is in the router, because the 2Wire System page shows Broadband Link Connection Speed Incoming at 6016 kbps (768 outgoing). Doesn't that mean that it sees high speed, even though it's not able to deliver it - even wired - to any of my devices?
I've tried a few tricks I've seen elsewhere: switch DNS to 8.8.8.8, try different Wireless channels, set Power Setting to 10, set Wireless setting to 802.11 b or 802.11 g instead of 802.11 b/g, adding each device's MAC address to the manually to the Allowed Devices list in Wireless MAC filtering. Nothing moves the needle.
Should I get a new modem or does the issue lie elsewhere? Any help/ideas appreciated.

Here is some more information from the dashboard:
- Broadband Link Diagnostics show everything UP.
