Re: Why so Slow ATT DSL w/ 2Wire Router

Thanks rg13. But what would be causing all that upload. I'm not running a server or anything like that.

Idk. Probably some type of remote backup or Dropbox type service is most common. If those stats are right It says it's transmitted 3GB in 3 days, which is probably killing your connection at times.

I would disable the wireless for now and test with a wired device.

Maybe all your apple devices are uploading to the cloud and causing the slow speed. This would explain why the AT&T tech got great speeds using their test laptop, etc. I would also recommend as others have said, try one wired device (that doesn't upload to cloud) and see if it helps

Thank you, all. You reminded me that I use a remote backup service called Crashplan. I thought those services were set up to be 'friendly' in that they went to the back of the line when a real user needed the bandwidth. I shut it off, switched to Channel 11, and that fixed everything. Now popping ~5Mbps on Speedtest - wired and WiFi. I'm a hero in the house.
THANK YOU!!!
