[Speed] New Comcast dual stack speed test

The Comcast speed test is now IPv4/IPv6 dual stack compatible:

Next, they need to try to get it to pay less attention to PowerBoost and give realistic results (but I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen).

Hum. On a Mac ... Using Chrome, the IPv6 test never starts, it just sits there after the IPv4 test completes. Tried multiple times. Safari works ok.

Works for me on FireFox but Chrome only is using ipv4 DNS for some reason. If I run » test-ipv6.com it come back with a statement that your browser ( chrome in this case ) is capable but for some reason is not using ipv6 dns AAAA lookups :

This is the message from test-ipv6.com " IPv6 connections work, but connections using DNS names do not use IPv6. For some reason, your browser or your OS is not doing IPv6 DNS 'AAAA' lookups. "

Thanks for the link. Geo location sucks but test is large enough to be more accurate than the older versions

Windows 8 - Firefox 24 (not private or anything) and it stalls on the IPv6 test as well. Admittedly I am doing this from Charter and using a HE IPv6 tunnel so maybe that has something to do with it.

Geo location sucks...

Yep, their old IPv6 only test at »ipv6.speedtest.comcast.net always added 6000+ miles to my tests...and since the IP address that is shown on the test page for users with native IPv6 is an IPv6 address, they are probably still using the same code.

Besides, geography in general has never been Comcast's strong suit:

Do you have native dual stack?
Because appears to have only run the IPv4 test, which would be normal if that's all you have available/working.

Good on you Comcast, I like having both test combined.

It would be nice if the test showed both the v6 and v4 address and as previously mentioned the distance shown has the same bug as the v6 only test.

How do have an 8ms ping at 7750 miles?!?!?!?

That's the distance bug that has been mentioned.
I'm actually less than 20 miles from Comcast's servers here in Portland.

XP kinda sucks for IPv6 lol...+6000 miles again as usual (should be about 30 miles)

and in case your wondering, no test is not being limited i get this from fiber connection (windows 7)

It pretty much borks the test for us on IE10 and no IPv6....hangs after the IPv4 test.

Where does it stop?
If you have no IPv6 it can't do that test.
If it just doesn't show the pic link graphic, that's one of the IE10 glitches

It gets done measuring the upload and hangs.

Not a Comcast user, and IPv6 is a tunnel. Nevertheless:

Nice geo bug; considering that I live practically across the street from the San José City Hall!

CC doesn't publish Geo info on IPv6 and I've never figured out what imaginary spot the test thinks it is at (tried tests across the country and the distance "circle" seem to conflict) It can't be anywhere ComCast actually serves
You'd think the test would continue to use the v4 location, but it may be deliberate to not reveal anything on the v6 location

That sounds like an IE10 glitch, recent update make it difficult to set popup and cookie info, and sometimes it locks at the request.

It doesn't really matter to me, I hardly ever run the test.

But it seems to me that seeing most people still don't have IPv6 and most people run IE, it could be a problem.

I even tried it on my test box with windows 8.1 and IE11 and it does the same

The image bug is kinda funny considering it showed me the actual distance at the end of the test.

Powerboost was eliminated on most tiers. What speed tier are you on?
