Re: [Speed] New Comcast dual stack speed test

Your IPv6 address on the public Internet appears to be 2002:328c:3f32::328c:3f32

The statement "Your CMTS is not supported at this time" means that your local Comcast infrastructure does not support native IPv4/IPv6 dual stack. That is why the Comcast IPv6 speed test does not run.

You do seem to have IPv6 connectivity using a 6to4 tunnel, but that means that Windows tries by default to use IPv4 connectivity before it tries to use IPv6 connectivity, and I believe that is the reason that Comcast's speed test does not even try to run the IPv6 test. While there is a way to force Windows to give a 6to4 tunnel priority over IPv4 traffic, I am not going to even point to any articles explaining how to do that since I don't think it is a good idea (one of a small number of network default settings that MS and I agree on).

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) appears to be COMCAST-20214 - Comcast Cable Communications Holdings, Inc

Good news! Your current configuration will continue to work as web sites enable IPv6.

You appear to be using a public 6to4 gateway; your router may be providing this to you automatically. Such public gateways have no service level agreements; you may see performance problems using such. Better would be to get a native IPv6 address from your ISP. [more info]

Your DNS server (possibly run by your ISP) appears to have IPv6 Internet access.

I have no idea. What browser do you use? What modem and router do you use? What results do you see if you go to »comcast6.net/ and »test-ipv6.com/ ?

If there is any way to get a custom config file to eliminate PowerBoost, I would very much appreciate it (my current config file is d11_m_sb7121_bciwidebandstarter_c05.cm) IMO, PowerBoost should have never been applied to business class service where stability is more important than a faux warm fuzzy feeling.

The image bug is kinda funny considering it showed me the actual distance at the end of the test.

It doesn't really matter to me, I hardly ever run the test.

But it seems to me that seeing most people still don't have IPv6 and most people run IE, it could be a problem.

I even tried it on my test box with windows 8.1 and IE11 and it does the same

That sounds like an IE10 glitch, recent update make it difficult to set popup and cookie info, and sometimes it locks at the request.

CC doesn't publish Geo info on IPv6 and I've never figured out what imaginary spot the test thinks it is at (tried tests across the country and the distance "circle" seem to conflict) It can't be anywhere ComCast actually serves
You'd think the test would continue to use the v4 location, but it may be deliberate to not reveal anything on the v6 location

Not a Comcast user, and IPv6 is a tunnel. Nevertheless:

Where does it stop?
If you have no IPv6 it can't do that test.
If it just doesn't show the pic link graphic, that's one of the IE10 glitches

It pretty much borks the test for us on IE10 and no IPv6....hangs after the IPv4 test.

Good on you Comcast, I like having both test combined.

It would be nice if the test showed both the v6 and v4 address and as previously mentioned the distance shown has the same bug as the v6 only test.

Do you have native dual stack?
Because appears to have only run the IPv4 test, which would be normal if that's all you have available/working.

Geo location sucks...

Yep, their old IPv6 only test at »ipv6.speedtest.comcast.net always added 6000+ miles to my tests...and since the IP address that is shown on the test page for users with native IPv6 is an IPv6 address, they are probably still using the same code.

Besides, geography in general has never been Comcast's strong suit:

Windows 8 - Firefox 24 (not private or anything) and it stalls on the IPv6 test as well. Admittedly I am doing this from Charter and using a HE IPv6 tunnel so maybe that has something to do with it.
