 | GTA VI (6) So Rockstar are thinking of ideas for GTAVI. Heres mine, which unsurprisingly features a return to Vice City.
CITY(S)
Vice City, Cuba*, Mexico*, Bahamas*. *=Based on these. All reasonably close, accessible by water/air. Vice City is an expanded version of the original Vice City much like V features an expanded Los Santos. Surrounding areas are all there, including marsh land and countryside including Shady Acres retirement home. Cuba is a fairly small island with 1 city, Mexico is a land mass (although an island for purposes) with lots of desert and smaller towns, around a fairly large city, the Bahamas a series of luxury islands and expensive condos.
STORY & ERA
1988/1989. The game follows 3 players in another Scarfacesque story. 1 character from Mexico fighting to get his gang noticed in the drug trade, 1 character from Cuba who wants a fresh start in America and 1 character from Vice City who works for the Vercetti Family. The story revolves around the dying cocaine empire and the introduction of heroin into the streets of Vice City putting a cosh on Tommys empire. All 3 characters help Tommy to stay afloat, before moving on to bigger things, culminating in mansions in the Bahamas.
CHARACTERS
Tommy is back but only as a boss, and not killable. Cortez and Mercedes would make an appearance as would Ken as fairly heavy characters. Other old faces would be Love Fist who are bemoaning the new love of grunge, Big Mitch Baker, Kent Paul with his new grunge band, Candy Suxx and the porn baron, but these would have minor roles. New faces would be the rival Mexican drug gang supplying the original heroin, Mitchs Biker Gang now bad (Mitch would die), Cuban government officials, and shady USa government officals looking to bring down Tommys empire.
MUSIC
All the stations from Vice City, but with updated tracks to reflect the new era. V Rock will be deemed uncool but will still focus on the 80s glam metal scene. A new rock radio station similar to Radio X in San Andreas will launch with a more grunge/alternative feel from the early days of the scene, and ideally a classic rock station similar to K-DST too.
THINGS TO DO
Aside from the usual things, Id like watersports to be a big part. Boat races, jet skis, etc. Golf would be in, with Leaf Links and the Bahamas both having courses. A bit grim, but serial killer side activity would fit, as Miami is the serial killer capital of the world (plus there is the whole Dexter thing). Whether we solve the crimes, or have a character that is a serial killer Im not sure. Drug smuggling from Cuba/Mexico to Vice City would be a levelled activity, with each level the run being harder and harder.

 | I love it. Some people might be disappointed that it's a re-hash of vice city, but then again so is gta v a rehash of San Andreas (technically) but nobody seems to be complaining about that. I think you chose a good setting because:
- the 80's were awesome. Very stylized and lend themselves well to a game like this. I loved vice city and the thought of seeing it on a next gen console is awesome. Plus we could get some really iconic 80's music. Personally I was REALLY disappointed with the music in gta v.
- the geography. It would easily allow them to incorporate land sea and air. I've seen people on the internet throwing out ideas for the next setting and some of them are nowhere near any large bodies of water. It would be a shame not to expand on the awesome water tech/exploration they've developed. I too would like to see more water stuff.
The serial killer stuff (while dark) would be a cool addition. After playing red dead redemption in which you had the ability to lasso people, tie them up, and if you wanted carry them away on foot or horseback, I was a little disappointed you couldn't do that in gta v.
Anyway, I like your idea I'm with you 100%. -- Polluxx - LvL 90 Human Warrior - (US) Ravencrest |

Ha, I just had a laugh envisioning Trevor hogtying some guy, cursing him out the whole time, and throwing him in the trunk of a car before driving it off a cliff.
Love the return to Vice City ideas, by the way. VC was my favorite GTA game so far. -- "The counsel of fools is all the more dangerous the more of them there are." -?lafr H?skuldsson |

I think the reason Vice City and San Andreas were so highly rated was it put you firmly back in the 80's/early 90's and allowed for total escapism.
GTAIV and to a lesser extent GTAV struggle to immerse you in the world you are in. The music in IV isn't the music of 2008 and likewise the music of V isn't a reflection of this years sounds, it just can't be. The best part of Vice City/San Andreas was just cruising, taking in the sights and sounds, you don't get that with the others. |

I like it! But single player aside, what I really want is for GTA Online to be more like an MMO. Persistent world with servers that allow many people to interact with each other in the open world with instanced multiplayer gameplay (races, golf, heists, etc.). I might never log out if they could make that work and still make it feel like GTA . -- The world was movin' she was right there with it and she was |

I thought about this a few years ago. The issue is a city isn't a place to level characters, and guns are guns. Borderlands has proved the idea could work but guns can only really have one ability. Also GTA bosses who needs a team of 5-10 players to take out pushes the realm of realism to the max. Whilst the odd one you can get around with armoured cars, and fortified barricades, the premise would quickly get old and it would risk descending into Saints Row style madness. |

Who says it has to have MMO tropes like raids and roles? I want GTA man, not WoW with a GTA skin! Run wild in the streets, turn raids into more like Payday 2 style gameplay, have big races and sports tournaments. Levelling up like there is now would be fine. Man that would be fun. -- The world was movin' she was right there with it and she was |

It's the music of 1986 after 17 years of hindsight and reflection let us forget all the crappy hit songs of that year.
