Re: Is there any auto generator switch? Why would you want or need a remote start on a cord-connected generator, without a transfer switch?
Tell us more about what you want to accomplish, and we can provide better answers. |

No this isnt noting to do with my WISP so stop bringing up that its for my house. No I am not doing an full house one because if I deicde to add onto my house I can move the portable generator to different part of the land instead of having having an fix location.
This is the one I am planning on getting: »www.harborfreight.com/8750-watts···525.html
with that generator I am putting an NG/LP kit on it |

Does it have electric start?
Does it have a remote start relay connection?
Do you have an Auto transfer switch?
I'm assuming this is to support your WISP? Spend a few bucks and do it right. Or at least better...

Is about 2k plus install, so not much more then the one you have/are looking at now...
Fully automatic; no remote intervention required. Runs off LPG or Natural Gas... No worrying about fuel going stale. |

alright its them ones you can get at menards or lowes if that isnt more cryptic for you to understand. Under 1k in price watch. |

Could you be more cryptic?
This is a portable generator...

This is ALSO a portable generator...

And there's a world of difference between them...
Get an proper automatic standby system, with transfer switch, power-loss detection and automatic start... Probably cost in the 2-3 grand range for a "home" grade one.
As was very correctly pointed out; it's not safe to rig a remote starter onto a system not meant for it. Life and Fire safety being the first to come to mind. |

You need to look into generators that are designed to be auto starting. -- Bellingham Scanner Kicks Ass! »bhamscanner.kicks-ass.org/ |

Likely won't work. Too difficult to play with the choke. |

Does it have an electric starter?
Then you can use something like this to "press" the starter button for you... »www.controlbyweb.com/webrelay
Or better yet, you can start it, and then monitor other things about it (temperature, gas level, output voltage OK, etc.) with this... »www.controlbyweb.com/x310/
...the relay on these units might not be rated enough amps to switch the starter motor directly, but you can always have that relay trigger another relay that is. |

The same type of remote start kits that you can get for cars and trucks can also be used for generators. Automatic start kits exist that use a timer and start the generator after a previously set delay time has passed since the power outage began.
Remotely or automatically starting a motor can create safety issues. You are probably fine with a fully enclosed generator but I would not use automatic or remote start for a generator with exposed moving parts unless there is some way to guarantee that there will be nobody near it when it starts. -- Got some spare cpu cycles ? it should start by itself after a few seconds of detecting a power failure!. |

 | Is there any auto generator switch that you can turn on an stand by generator without going outside starting it by doing by command prompt or ip address to start the generator? |
