 | Revisiting Diablo III? Bring me up to speed.......... Like many of you I eagerly anticipated Diablo 3. Also like many of you I played it, enjoyed it a lot, and then rage-uninstalled it upon reaching Act II Inferno.
Well I've been seeing a lot of topics on it lately, most notably the thread about Blizz removing the AH (side note which I think is a fantastic idea since an auction house completely undermined the entire reason a game like Diablo is fun)
Anyway, it sounds like blizzard has also made a lot of other changes for the positive, and it got me thinking maybe I should re-install it. Could someone give me like the cliff's notes version of what changes they've made since initial release? -- Polluxx - LvL 90 Human Warrior - (US) Ravencrest |

2 recommendations | Quite a bit has changed, notably:
• Monster Power- this provides players with the ability to change the difficulty and rewards of mobs while playing. From MP0 to MP10 mobs gain more health, while your magic find and gold find as well as experience percentages increase. MP3 is close to what release inferno was, though other changes negate some of the frustration.
• Mobs no longer regenerate health like they did during release, making it possible to kill any type of pack.
• Monster density: Remember how cool Act 3 was with waves of enemies everywhere? That is how all acts in Inferno are once you start with MP1 or higher.
• Paragon levels: these are levels to gain after you reach 60. Every level you gain 3% MF, 3% GF as well as some additional primary stats. (This will be modified to assignable points once the pre-RoS patch is implemented, rumored early next year.)
• Crafted items that are useful: There are new recipes for hands, shoulders, wrists that compete with some of the bis items for stats. They have specific stats that are always rolled meaning that your chances of a good item are pretty good.
I know there are more, but this is the majority that stand out. -- No trees were harmed by this posting, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. |

Do these paragon levels persist through death and/or logout? I seem to vaguely recall some other bonus attribute.... nephalim something or other. What was that again? -- Polluxx - LvL 90 Human Warrior - (US) Ravencrest |

While I am not playing much, it isn't a bad idea to get a character to max level now so that you can jump straight into the expansion when it is released if that is your goal. Also, all experience gained in Paragon Levels will go toward account-wide stat points per character. -- No trees were harmed by this posting, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. |

Paragon levels are currently character bound (like secondary levels) that persist through death. There is Nephalem Valor that you get every time you kill an elite, champion pack, open a resplendent chest or complete an event. NV stacks to 5 and increases your MF and GF as well as experience gained for it's duration. (30 min iirc) that refreshes every time you do something that earns a NV. These persist through death, but not through acts or gaming sessions. Also, if you change any of your talents (passive or active) they are reset. Not sure if the same system will be in the new patch, though there has been made mention that Blizz may remove the spec change NV wipe in RoS, nothing official on the topic that I have seen though. -- No trees were harmed by this posting, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. |

 | So Nepalim valor is basically the same thing as paragon levels in that they both increase your MF and GF? What's the reasoning behind two bonuses that both do the same thing? Or am I missing something? -- Polluxx - LvL 90 Human Warrior - (US) Ravencrest |

stvnbrsPremium join:2009-03-17 Cary, NC kudos:5 | NV was initially designed to keep players from switching specs every pac and provide a reward for doing things other than boss runs. Farming now equates to the fastest you can get 5 stacks, then what ever loop you want to do. Keep in mind that 5 stacks of NV are also required for drops from Keywardens to make an infernal machine that allows players to fight 2 uberbosses simultaneously for a chance to get a body part required to make an infernal ring. -- No trees were harmed by this posting, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. |

 | Do you know if the console versions have all of these new features as well (paragon lvls, monster power, etc)?
I tried the xbox 360 demo and I was totally surprised how well they ported it. This is going to sound crazy, but it might actually be better on the console. They added a dodge/roll function to the right thumbstick and using it feels so natural its hard to imagine playing without it now.
I have a friend who's really interested in the game, but he's console only so I'm acutally considering buying it for xbox even though I already have it and completed it on PC. -- Polluxx - LvL 90 Human Warrior - (US) Ravencrest |
